“Wonderful weekend”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Just returned from a fantastic weekend away at The Bay. A small issue on arrival, however Luke the Head of house keeping sorted the problem immediately, a friendly gentleman who did above and beyond to ensure we were happy and our stay is a relaxing one. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. Ladies on reception always happy to assist, despite being so busy. Lovely holiday cottages and clean site with lovely facilities.

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at the bay, first time was 2 years ago. The site has come on well with lots of new builds, again didn't interfere with our stay. We stayed in the scooner. The house was ok but in need of a mot! Seemed to be lots of little things which needed attention, for example broken draws, boiler losing pressure, toilet leaking. Oddly there was nowhere to hang coats and nowhere to store shoes? The pub wasn't as good as I remembered from two years ago. The food seemed to be lacking in quality, and Halloween was a nightmare in the pub. We were told by a member of staff that we couldn't book for the Thursday night due to a party for the kids at 6pm, we decided to get there for 5.45 to make sure we got a table. Walked in and all the tables were reserved
I questioned this and was told they were fully booked? I spoke with the manager and adviced him to ensure his sraff give customers the correct information, there is a big difference between you can't book to we are fully booked!! He managed to get us a table but only had an hour to eat before the table was booked out, not ideal with young children, had I have been given the correct information we would gave chosen not to have eaten there at all but gone into filey. But the kids did enjoy the party!! I would go back, for the price and the fact there is a pool, oh and the East Coast on the door step why would you not stay at the bay?

We stayed in a Buccaneer holiday property at The Bay near Filey. The site is very well laid out as a holiday village and the accommodation was excellent value for money. The staff on site were very friendly at Reception and the accommodation was very smart and warm. The beach is only a 5 - 10 minute walk and there is a supermarket in Filey which is a 5 minute drive. Scarborough is only a 15 minute drive and has super shops, beach and harbour. The only slight improvement to the accommodation would be provision of somewhere to hang coats as there were no coat hooks on doors or hangers in the wardrobes but this is such a minor point and only worth mentioning for any readers of this review in case they want pack some hangers in their luggage! We had an excellent week and would certainly go again.

We have just returned from a four night stay in Sandy Bay Cottage which is situated in The Bay development Filey.
Sandy Bay cottage was absolutely delightful and the owners have to be congratulated on the high quality of furnishings and decor. We have never stayed anywhere so well thought through. There was everything you could possibly need and more. A real home from home.
There was access to the wonderful expanse of Filey bay. There is a good Pool and Gym though the leisure staff were very disorganised with class times etc.
We went with our 12 year old son and his friend who used the facilities and especially liked the football pitch.
We were only a couple of minutes by car from Primrose Valley which is a Haven site. You can pay and use the facilities there so the lads enjoyed the high ropes and leap of faith.
There are well maintained meadows round the area with lakes etc for fishing or in the case of our dog swimming!
We all had a super time exploring the east coast of Yorkshire and we would defiantly like to stay again.

We have just returned from a 4 night break at The Bay Filey, whilst there we had a two bedroomed apartment on the ground floor.
We have stayed at They Bay previous to this where we had a Two Bedroomed house which is more spacious and comfortable than the apartment, however no houses were available when we wanted to travel.
We had one double room with en suite and one room with bunk beds which suited us being 2 adults and 1 child.
We had a good central location so were in easy walking distance to the amenities.
I was slightly disappointed this time with the Pub, last time it was fairly quiet and they were very helpful but it was a weekend at the end of November before where as this time it was midweek during a Half Term Period, It did mention that if you wanted to eat in the pub that you should book but as it was so quiet last time I just didn't think it would be an issue. It was however very busy to eat but there wasn't really anywhere to sit if you just wanted a drink as all tables had been reserved for the eaters. I went in for a drink one evening whilst my partner and daughter went swimming and struggled to find a table. Another couple who wanted to eat couldn't get a table and after complaning they eventually gave in and said they could use a table which was reserved as long as they had finished by 7.30pm, this was at 6.00pm. enough time for a couple I shoul think. They might beed to re think this and get a better structure in place, The bar staff didn;t seem to know what they were doing.
I didn't use the coffee shop so cannot comment on this. The Pharmacy is a good idea and did stock some food basics but the site definatly needs a shop.
The pool is nice.
I do think the apartment needs looking at as it wasa little tired in places but this didnt really affect our stay.
I do like it here as it is quiet and comfortable accommodation, Wifi or some sort of internet would be good to invest in for the future.

we will definatly return when we can.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in a solo apartment (74 Sunrise Drive booked through Hoseasons) and it was lovely, just what we needed for a holiday home. The ground floor apartment has very clean and well equipped and just over the road from the pub (we didn't experience any noise disturbance). The only thing we could see that would improve the property would be some blackout blinds in the bedroom (we had a street light outside which stayed on all night). Would happily stay here again, the area has lots to explore and the private beach it great.

This was our fourth visit to the bay and expected the usual high standards… Unfortunately the accommodation is ready for a good clean not just a quick once over before the next occupant. It would be nice if the Hoover was occasionally emptied. We have no dogs and they maybe welcome in some properties but a clogged up vacuum full of animal hair is not acceptable. Also the Hoseasons website needs to make it clear which properties don't allow dogs as that's many people's preference. Love the setting but maybe our last visit.
