I would highly recommend this lovely stylish coffee bar ...excellent service from staff and delicious fresh food made to order. Hats off to the staff handling a loud rude customer to which there was no pleasing him...if it had been my shop I would have marched him out ...I often visit this lovely establishment and it has always been consistent with the quality of hygiene and professionalism ..thankyou :)

“Rude staff, food hygiene zero”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2014 via mobile

We visited this place for the first time over the Christmas period. My husband found a hair in his food when he started his meal (jacket potato with coronation chicken) which he ignored but on finding the second in the middle of his coronation chicken he took it back to the counter. After a long wait a member of the kitchen staff came out to tell him that it wasn't her hair. (Her hair was long and not tied up.) Never before have I witnessed someone so rude as to argue with customers over something they had sent out of their own kitchen. She refused to make him another and refused to give him his money back saying he had eaten half of it anyway! Was it his fault that the second hair was in the middle of his food? . . . No. Do we check food for hairs before we start eating it? . . . No. Can I also point out that my husband is practically bald and has not had long hair since he was in uni many years ago. We were disgusted by this treatment we received where everyone else in the cafe was listening.

I would not recommend this place to anyone as food hygiene and customer service is terrible how they ever got a 5 star rating is beyond me.

This spoilt a lovely day out in our favourite seaside town.

“Great coffee, good breakfast - an untapped great place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2013

Well worth a visit to this unassuming good quality coffee house. The place was quiet considering it was nearly lunchtime (no customers in) so a table was free and we decided to stay. Lots of room around tables. Even though customers were to order and pay at the till, we would have expected a 'hello' or 'hi' when we entered considering we were the only customers but we had to go to the counter before there was any interaction.

That said, good coffee and a massive breakfast when it arrived (but cheap catering sausages!).

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013 via mobile

This is a great place for coffee a great choice but Lattes to due for . The food is excellent I had a tuna wrap which came beautifully presented with chips and salad and not small portions. Staff are very friendly nothing is too much trouble for them. All I can say is if you haven't paid them a visit then I say you should you won't be disappointed great little cafe best coffee ever.

“Unassumingly Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2013

We had a brief visit to Filey needing to grab a bite for lunch and stretch the legs during a drive down the coast. Nice town. The exterior is modest with a couple of chairs & cafe tables outside and on peering through the window it numerous folk seated, so we went in and found a table. Whilst it was around 1pm we quite liked the idea of "afternoon tea" consisting of a sandwich, scone with clotted cream & jam plus a pot of tea. No problem. The tea arrived and it was good. We were told that chef thought the bread was not as he would like to prepare the sarnies (it was OK though) so would we like bread cakes instead. We'd not really heard of bread cakes but we will always give something a go. We were not dissapointed. Really tasty "baps" with generous fillings. Scones etc were good too. All in all a very enjoyable lunch that wasn't too heavy as we were having to drive home. The cost was excellent at just £9.90 total. The other patrons didn't look dissapointed either as they were presented with a variety of meals. The coffee also smelled really inviting. If you are in Filey this gem is worth the visit in Union Street.
