We stayed here recently to enjoy some wonderful food and have some peace and quiet away from work. We had a lovely appointed ground floor room, it was great the first night but the second morning we were woken up by the couple in the room above stomping around I'm sure with their boots on! Room tip: maybe get an upstairs room! Or if you are in an upstairs room, think of those below you and maybe leave the shoes alone til you are just about to leave your room, especially if its 7am!!! We had our first evening meal at The Pheasant. We had the taster menu with wine paring, simply WOW! Excellent service complimented the excellent food. The second evening we had a 3 course A La Carte at the Star Inn, the food was amazing, well thought out and simply delicious. The service yet again could not be faulted. The breakfasts served in the Wheelhouse were very good too and the afternoon fresh bakes were a brilliant added extra. The only bad point we could find is that although its great that fresh milk is provided in your room for tea and coffee making, it is only put in your room on an evening while you are out eating then removed in the morning when your room is serviced so if you fancy a tea or coffee on an afternoon you are being encouraged to purchase this. We got round this by buying a pint of milk from the Corner Shop and keeping it in the more than adequate fridge in our room. Overall we had a brilliant time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and its restaurants to anyone.

My partner and I held our Civil Ceremony at Cross House Lodge in May. We were looked after from day one by Olivia, who provided invaluable help in the planning and execution of the day, and recommended further local accommodation venues for our extra guests. On the day itself we were bowled over by the amazing staff who seemed to solve every issue with grace and a smile, and made everything happen just the way we wished it. The food, as ever, was beyond compare, and has induced several of our guests to plan a return visit to the restaurant, despite the 200 mile round trip! Overall we can look back on our day as the best yet of our lives together, thanks in the main to the seamless running of the event allowing for nothing but wonderful memories to be made. Cross House Lodge is a quirky gem, and the rooms, food and incredible service are impeccable. We cannot reccommend it enough.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway with perfect food, perfect service and a complete switch-off from the daily grind, this is it. We stayed in room 4 with a bed hanging from the ceiling, sloping ceilings, and a double shower. Quite simply the best room we have ever stayed in.

We came here solely to eat at the Star Inn opposite, and in truth this is the only thing going on in the village so if you are looking at walking around a few pubs or looking for lively nightlife then this definately isn't the place for you.

The hotel has a residents' lounge (split in two) and a huge round-table breakfast table. There is also a self-service bar which means that you can just take things at your own pace.

We would not hesitate to stay again, and will probably recommend it to every one of our friends.
