Booked the Crown at the last minute as the forecast for our anniversary was particularly good. We were lucky enough to get a room at the Crown due to a cancellation. Managed to park in Hawes for free which, on a Saturday, is a rarity in itself and the place was packed!. Straight forward check-in and had a smallish but very comfortable room that overlooked the main street. Booked a table in the restaurant as I had heard the food was very good. Lovely walks from the town ( we did a circular that took us to,Hardraw and Sedbusk and another whch took us past the Wensleydale Creamery to Aisgill falls. Beautiful. Good job we booked the restaurant as it was full. The meal was faultless and service very good. Breakfast the next morning did not disappoint. Fresh fruit and all made with local produce - just what we needed before another long walk that day from West Burton to West Witton and back. Overall it was a lovely stay. If people are wanting peace and quiet on an evening go elsewhere as Hawes is a very vibrant and busy place so lots of chatter, talking and laughing going from the congregations outside the pubs which is to be expected. The only 'downside' if you can call it that was the fact that it was a very hot weekend ( yes, in the Dales!) so could have done with a fan in the room as it was really warm. A very enjoyable and welcoming stay.

We stayed here just for one night whilst walking three days of the Pennine Way. Nothing was too much trouble for Lindsay and her staff. The room, whilst not the most modern was very clean and included tea and coffee making facilities as well as a basket of snacks for the hungry walker! We also dined here in the evening and the food was all good "pub grub" delivered to the table by efficient staff. Breakfast was too large to manage, fresh fruit, yoghurts, local bread, full english and much much more. Use of local produce is always good to experience. If anything I mentioned to Lindsey that their overnight price is too "cheap" compared to other places our friends used in the local area. The whole experience was definitely worth more than the money we paid for our room! Finally the packed lunch that our friends were provided for their days walking was like a banquet. It even included a piece of the local Wensleydale cheese. Thank you for a lovely stay.

After hunting high and low for accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales that didn't want to kick you out at 10am, we came across Adam at The Crown Hotel in Hawes who realised that we were on holiday and didn't want to get up too early (we run a pub so have so many late nights that we like to have a lie in). "Leave at lunchtime if you like", he said, which was music to our ears. We had a lovely, good sized room which was very clean. Food and service at the hotel was also very good and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We would definitely stay again.

My husband and I ate here while staying in the area. Staff were very efficient, obliging and friendly, although they were very busy. Meal was excellent, definitely a cut-above the standard you might expect from a pub meal. We will try to book a room here next time we come to the area.

Huge thanks to Adam and Lindsay!! We had a 2 night stay in May whilst walking the length of the Pennine Way. The most relaxed dog friendly place we have ever stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble and Lindsay even did our laundry! No matter how busy it was (and it really was!) the friendly staff never failed to pay attention to detail and make you feel extremely welcome. We will certainly stay again.
