Back for our second visit to this small family run hotel, we were not disappointed. If anything the hotel is even better than we remembered, and the upgrades which were taking place last time have paid off, with a fabulous new lounge area for guests to sit and chat in the evenings, and the bar area is now much more modern, whilst still retaining it's character. The superior rooms are worth upgrading to - the views out over the dales are breathtaking and the rooms beautiful with modern en suite bathrooms. The food in the restaurant was just as good as we remembered, and the owners just as warm and welcoming. We'll definitely be back again soon.

We had a 2 night stay here to celebrate our Silver Wedding, my husband booked it as a surprise and it was a great choice. The cleanliness was excellent. We immediately felt very comfortable in the pleasant bedroom that had real character, the bed and linen were really comfortable also. There was plenty of hot water all the time for a bath or shower (both available) The breakfast and evening meals provided really tasty, excellent quality food served very importantly on hot plates! The Yorkshire tea was superb. The lounge was a very pleasant room to relax in, try a jigsaw or chat to other visitors. We felt this was an excellent place to stay providing all we needed in this beautiful setting.

We were so thrilled with this hotel, its in the perfect location in the middle of Hawes, handy for all amenities. Our room was perfect, newly decorated, nicely furnished and very comfortable with a very modern en-suite. We ate in the hotel every night as the food was so good with lots of choice, and we were very well looked after by the owners and staff. We will highly recommend this hotel.

Our first time at Cocketts but won't be our last. Despite poor weather we had a warm and relaxing stay. The food was excellent, and the chef very successfully adapted one of his specials so that both of us could enjoy it. The owners have exactly the right balance of being warmly welcoming without pretending to be your best friends. An added bonus for us was lack of a mobile signal in most of Hawes - really helped that feeling of getting away from it all.

We were escorting friends from South Africa and could not pass up the chance to visit Hawes.

We only had one night in Cocketts but I am happy to say it was an extremely pleasant experience.

The whole place oozes country charm. The room we stayed in was compact but comfortable with everything you could need for a lovely stay.

The whole establishment was clean and the decor fresh. A small, well stocked, bar in reception provided a night cap and the owner was always on hand to help. I did like the way he popped his head around the door and asked us if we would switch the light off when we departed for bed.

Excellent 'Full English' breakfast with freshly brewed coffee rounded off the experience.

The owner and his wife have just the sort of light touch we appreciate. Welcoming and there if you need something.

Room Tip: Standard rooms were fine

Quick and easy check in on a lovely sunny afternoon. Straight to The Fountain for a few Golden sheep (beer) and then a lovely hot bath and change for dinner. The room (Wensleydale) has a good view over the hills at the rear of the hotel. Very quiet. Good bed and excellent bathroom. Yorkshire Tea is a plus in the room. The menu is quite good and there is a choice of 2 'specials'. We had lamb and it was excellent. Wine list good if a bit pricey. Really good breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Good choice of fruit/fruit juice, cereals, jam, toast and a nice filter coffee. The owners run a friendly, informal licensed house and have good local knowledge. Well placed right in the centre of Hawes.

Room Tip: Mid week is always best for us in The Dales
