This was our 6th time at the hotel. It never fails to please. Friendly, helpful happy staff. Lovely setting and ideal for exploring. The food is always plentiful and tasty, and we will continue to return. We attend the Whisky tasting break, and have got to know a lovely group of people that, have become friends that we look forward to seeing each time. Thanks again Phil for another good year!! Good people, good setting and good Whisky... Perfect!!

Thanks for your kind review, and we're glad that you enjoyed the Malt Whisky tasting once again. Every time we run this course we are always thrilled to see the regular faces like yourselves as much as the new ones who attend. Hopefully we'll see you again next time for a few more drams of Scotland's finest. Cheers!

They coped with ten mature gentlemen walkers with great humour. The service, staff, food and overall experience was delightful. Different menu every night with plenty of choice. Good value. Very pleasant location. We will be back!

Room Tip: Take a conservatory room. They're bigger.

We had stayed at the Stone House last year and enjoyed it so much we vowed to return some day. When we learned that an English friend of ours was going to stay there in early November this year, we actually planned a trip to England and Ireland specifically around coming to Hawes just to stay here again. We were not disappointed. We decided to splurge and booked a 4-poster room which turned out to be just out the front door in a separate building but was a fabulous suite - our friends were very envious in the end. As nice as the accommodation is (and I believe they are doing a major upgrading this winter), one stays here for the overall experience and the staff. It is so relaxing to sit in the lounge, read a book or newspaper in front of the fire, and to watch dogs coming and going etc. All the guests seem so relaxed and willing to chat. The dinners and breakfasts are first rate and the menu varied every evening - I would return just for the cheese board. The staff make you feel at home and are very attentive without being intrusive. We visited in November and of course it was wet and windy but even so, the walk to the Green Dragon pub in Hardraw (Saturday afternoon it was packed with 2 separate entertainment groups) or into Hawes to its pubs and shops are both easy to do and worth the effort. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the Stone House and we intend to return again.

Room Tip: For a splurge, try out one of the 4-poster rooms.

We were kindly invited back by the management after our 1st visit, which would have been perfect, if not spoilt by for a fault with the heating thermostat, which resulted in a uncomfortable cold environment.
This visit was perfect in every way - we were welcomed back by extremely friendly and helpful staff our every need was catered for, the four poster bedroom was grand spacious and very comfortable, the downstairs living areas are designed for ultimate rest and relaxation, warm and cosy, the food is to die for the only problem being the expanding waist line!!
We have certainly found our 'bolt hole' to escape to when in need to re charge our batteries - we intend to return on at least a annual basis.
Thank you to all the staff

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms are certainly worth the extra cost and would help make the stay more specia...

Stayed here over the summer. It's a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. We booked a conservatory room which was lovely. Only criticism was the bathroom which was very small, considering the cost of the room. However, it certainly didn't spoil our stay in any way. We booked B&B and the breakfast was lovely, service excellent. We didn't try dinner, preferring instead to eat out in Hawes. We had a lovely break here and would recommend the hotel if you are looking to get away from it all for a few days.

Booked a couple of nights in late August for a late family break. Never been to the dales before and was amazed with the beauty of the countryside, lovely walks from the hotel, waterfalls, fells, rivers etc all on the doorstep. Bedroom on the front of the hotel was lovely although the room on the side was a little lack lustre but I understand that refurbishment to rooms is planned. Great welcome from staff, breakfast great, ate in one evening and was fine, went into Hawes the following night and very glad we booked. Very pleasant stay enjoyed by all of us, our 17 & 19 year old sons and 2 dogs all appreciated a lovely last minute break in a beautiful spot.

Room Tip: try and get a room overlooking the front, lovely views.

A welcoming hotel. This is the sort of hotel where you sit in the bar or lounge before and after dinner and chat to other guests. Of those we spoke to we were the only ones on a first visit, this really says it all.
Our bedroom in the Coach House was very comfortable although only a view over a courtyard but as we spent few daylight hours there it did not worry us. Breakfast (no self service buffet, all courses were waitress service) and dinner were excellent as was the waitress service.
We found this hotel on Trip Advisor so we can only say thank you Trip Advisor.
