“Basement room disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Stayed here for just one night to meet friends staying at the Cockets. We couldn't get in there. They paid the same price as we did but the Cockets was far superior. The Bulls Head was very cosy and friendly and spotlessly clean but can't deny we weren't disappointed at being in a basement. It was fine for one night but wouldn't like to have been there any longer. On the night we were there the owner was away and had someone covering for her. They did a great job and breakfast was lovely. It s in a central location but think the prices were a bit steep for a basement room with no natural light. The only light was from a side window onto a corridor. We could hear next door coming and going through the outside door. The wardrobe was in the bathroom and several lights weren't working so it was quite dark. Had we have only paid about 60 to 70 it would have been fine but think £85 was too much.

Room Tip: Avoid basement if there for more than one night

most welcoming, comfortable and clean accommodation In a bit of a rush on arrival, no pressure from staff who offered to help with baggage etc.
Breakfast was lovely freshly cooked, I was stuck for a lift back to the wedding venue (about 4 mile) but Helen went that extra mile by running me to collect my car, a lovely gesture.
Will be visiting the Bulls Head again in the future I am sure.

The owners and staff are very efficient, helpful and friendly. Comfortable and clean accommodation, great breakfast. Ideal location in the centre of the village.
would definitely recommend this b and b for couples and groups of friends. We were a group of tired cyclists following the route of Le Tour de France Grand Depart. Hawes and the Bulls Head make an excellent stop over. There is much to explore around Hawes for a longer stay.
Would definitely stay again.

Stayed the weekend for the 3 peak peaks walk, sadly we were in the ground floor room with no curtains just a big sky light so no chance of an early night. Also the two rooms above looked into our room, again for privacy an being 2 ladies sharing a room not great. Helen the owner was great though an even offered to wash our very muddy clothes after the trek. Breakfast the next day was a lovely full English. With the exception of the sky light was perfect for our needs.

This was a B n B not a hotel, however the breakfast was good. The host was very helpful and accommodating. The rooms could do with a bit of updating but they were clean. The big down side was the loud snoring and dogs barking. The location of the bulls head was excellent and a great place to explore the area.

Just retuned after a weekend at the Bulls Head following Le Tour. What a fab time we had, I have stopped here before and twice whilst Helen has been in charge. The place is so relaxed, clean and a friendly atmosphere. Whilst not licensed Helen allows you to drink your own tipple on the premises, even being so good as to put it in the fridge for you. Because we had an early start on the day of the race Helen was up at 4 am to make us all packed lunches and a bacon and egg sandwich before we left, all for no extra charge. We stopped in the Coverdale room with a view over bustling Hawes, which by the way has to be my favourite place in England, all the locals a friendly. Try a lovely pint of Stella at the Old Board Inn, or a fab meal at either The Crown or The White Hart, and don't leave without visiting the Curry House. The Bulls Head has a relaxing lounge to pass the time either reading or chatting with other guests. Helen is a real bubbly character who cant do enough for you. My wife and I will certainly be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a view over to Hardraw.
