thank you Ali baba , for taking the time to post a wonderful review of Herrriot's, and glad you enjoyed the superb breakfast.
We last stayed at Herriots 7 years ago on a previous cycle trip and we found it much improved. The rooms have had a makeover and were light, airy and comfortable. We had a splendid welcome from Glenn with plenty of tea and Liz's lovely soup in the smart tea room and gallery. As the Tour had recently come through the Dales the village was bedecked with colourful displays and Herriot's Gallery had many cycling pictures painted by local artists (wish we'd had room on our bikes!) After a quiet, comfortable night breakfast was one of the best, home made granola, lots of fresh fruit and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Apparently Liz was a top ranking chef in another life and it showed. Her cakes and preserves also looked delicious but we were good. After a walk round the village and a visit to the Museum and rope making factory we went back for more delicious soup then saddled up and made our way on a lovely quiet back road to our next stop at Aysgarth. Glenn and Liz were always happy to chat and could not have been more welcoming. A very bike (and people) friendly place to stay.
thank you Gill, for taking the time to post a wonderful review of Herrriot's, its wonderful when people come back and notice all the improvements to the place. Its always a pleasure serving appreciative guests with wonderful food and glad you enjoyed the superb breakfast.
Another perfect stay, thanks to Glenn & Liz.. Room 4, a comfy and snug single, a tall bed so you can store your cases and stuff underneath, hospitality tray with fresh biscuits and possibly the BEST view from the, umm, toilet. With all these great reviews, it's going to get tougher to book into this fine B&B, see you next year!
thank you Andrea, our most frequent guest from across the pond, we love your reviews and pictures you always have time to post, many thanks, see you when you're next over in glorious Wensleydale.
We received a friendly welcome on our arrival and were given information about the town . The room was clean and tidy with good views of the moors out of the window. The breakfast was first class with emphasis on quality over quantity. The only downside was noise from the traffic and difficulty flushing toilet due to low water pressure even though an electric pump was fitted.
thank you Michael, for taking the time to write a glowing review, we've adjusted some pipe work to help with the water pressure. the electric pump just assists the flushing away.
Had an all too brief stay in the lovely village of Hawes but had the fortune to spend the night in the Herriot's bed and breakfast. The proprietors gave a genuinely warm and friendly welcome to myself and my same sex friend with whom I was sharing a room. The B&B itself was clean and warm, the rooms tidy and well appointed and we had the fortune of an upper floor room which gave a lovely view of the countryside in the near distance and the village streets below. The owners were very knowledgeable on the local area and gave great advice on somewhere to eat that evening; with the rest of the night spent enjoying the atmosphere of a handful of the local pubs. The following morning there was a lovely choice of breakfasts which kept us full until well after lunchtime. Overall a lovely place to stay and would definitely recommend to others, really hope to visit again soon.
thank you Craig, for taking the time to write a glowing review, we're glad you and you friend enjoyed his Birthday here with us, we'll see you next year.
We stayed here for a couple of nights during the first week of July when we were completing the Pennine Way.
We had a very warm welcome, the room was lovely with a great view of the hills beyond the village.
Breakfasts served in the ground floor cafe were very good indeed, with home made preserves and granola and excellent fry-ups.
thank you, for taking the time to write a lovely review of Herriot's, we're glad you enjoyed your breakfasts whilst here in Hawes.
