Everything was first class, it was a quiet Wednesday evening (yesterday) but the food was brilliant and the wine, just couldn't find fault, the restaurant is very classical but the food is far from it, beautiful traditional dinning room. BRILLIANT please give it a try. First class

I have stayed at Wrangham House on three or four occasions, Winter and Summer. The Hotel sits in a quiet village and is Country House converted to a Hotel. It is family run and the family are warm and Friendly, nothing seems too much trouble, the decor might, by some, to called faded but I would take a different view. I think its comfortable and Welcoming and a change from the stiff efficient types in modern hotels. The rooms are of varying sizes some have 4 poster beds some not. there is the usual tea an coffee, with biscuits and bottled water is provided. The rooms are en-suite even if a little cramped. The downstairs rooms are a fest of leather, there is a well stocked bar with a good reasonably priced wine list.
We had dinner bed an breakfast, the Dinner was very good, ample proportions and very good food, there is a good choice, Steaks, Fish, Venison etc. Breakfast, this is a served breakfast rather than buffet type, again very well presented and everything you would need.
I think this place gets better each time we visit, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and I will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask the staff for the biggest room available

Tried somewhere out of town for a change. Very warm welcome as we arrived. Staff were very polite and attentive. Very nostalgic hotel with cosy bar and traditional restaurant. Orders were taken while enjoying and aperatiff. Service was swift and accommodating. Food was sublime. Crab thermidor, leek & potato soup were perfect. Not to mention the exquisite belly pork and vegetable rissotto.

The friendliness of the staff was perfect and the meal !! Thank goodness I'm not watching my weight. The meal was lovely and the portions were massive .

Four of us stayed on a Saturday night having just completed the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride. The staff were friendly and found us secure storage for our bikes. We had two rooms, a double and a twin. Both rooms were nice but the bathroom in the double room was a bit small and narrow. The showers in both rooms were poor being very sensitive to small movements of the temperature control and to changes in the water pressure within the hotel. Overall the hotel is very characterful with a lounge, bar area and dining room which is also used for breakfast.

We paid for bed, breakfast and an evening meal. Dinner was an extra £40 per room (£20 per person) on top of the bed and breakfast rate. Dinner was somewhat of a disappointment, three of us ordered rare to medium steaks which came over cooked, chewy and somewhat tasteless. Our fourth main course of belly pork was very good however. The starters and puddings were all fine. The following day's breakfast was very good.

So overall a mixed experience mainly marred by the steaks at the evening meal. This isn't a cheap hotel and I had expected better.

Tiny room, 3" between the bottom of the bed and radiator to squeeze through, beautiful day but a huge heavy quilt on the bed, wifi didn't work, toilet cistern refilling itself loudly every 10 minutes, stains on the bathroom wall, eat here but don't stay here.... Breakfast was good!
