We have eaten here before and didn't have a bad meal so we thought we'd give it another go. Portion size was good, presentation was good but what made our meal perfect was the person who served us.
We will be back.

We was purely told about this place after a pub in Filey had stopped serving food and how much do we need to thank them as I have not received this type of service for a very long time. We was greeted either by Andy or Terry with a very warm welcome and as we had a total of 8 children he seated us in a practical place. He gave us a list of the specials and totally sold all his dishes to us as so much detail was given, even after ordering he asked us what sauces we would like which is a total first and prevents food getting cold whilst waiting for them ( this should be done in all restaurants ). The food arrived promptly and with very generous portions and most of all extremely tasty! Within 10 mins or so I think Terry knew all our names and we all really felt like locals and nothing more in service could of been done any better and in fact the food thinking about it. Sunday roast was mentioned for us to return the next day and as so impressed we all came back and the portions were huge and being totally honest the best carvery ever, did help not being too busy and perhaps would avoid in the school hols as loads of the campers would be in... I will 100% return as it was faultless even the customers are kind and we received lovely comments on our children... A huge thank you for making our two visits so special, you really are amazing at what you do....

We are regular visitors to the royal oak and the comment regular says it all. Highly recommended with real ales to choose from and genuine home cooked food. Big appetites will be satisfied with no reduction on quality of food.

We have recently returned from having an over night stay at The Royal Oak near Filey and what a super time we had. You could not go to a more friendlier place where the food is amazing, the room we stayed in was cosy and very clean and the staff couldnt do enough for you. The portions were lets just say generous, just make sure you're hungry before ordering, You've never seen onion rings like it, they are huge as well as delicious. You could wear one as a bangle! Our nights sleep was divine with such a comfy bed, it was certainly sweet dreams. As for Terry and Andy, you could not meet nicer people who made us feel like friends. We had such a super time, we've booked to go back for new year and a long weekend in the spring to celebrate a birthday. We would highly recommend The Royal Oak if you want good food with a warm and friendly atmosphere and can enjoy the bar and then roll upstairs for a super nights sleep.

We didn't eat here this time as we ventured further afield, but, we certainly will when we return. The team here are absolute stars. We called on our way back to our holiday "home" most evenings of our break and were welcomed as if we were old friends. Real people. Can't wait to return

I would highly recommend eating here, pub grub at its best, fabulous atmosphere and once you have been you will definitely be back!! We have booked our works Christmas party here as it was so good. 5 star food hygiene rating which is always a plus side for any restaurant.
