Ny ife and I spent one night at this magnificent country house a few weeks ago. Although I thought I knew the Knaresborough area I had never ever visited Goldsborough. At no point do you appreciate that this is a hotel. You get the feeling that you are a country house guest. The room was huge with a large four-poster bed, immaculately furnished and with an immense television set. The grounds, in the NGS, are delightful with many roses and interesting trees. Dinner was excellent with a wide choice. After a restful night breakfast could have been from Downtown Abbey. Truly a memorable experience albeit at a price - but you're worth it!

Stayed for one night in early July and must say this is not a B&B it is a genuine 5 star Country Manor House.

The owners have made a great job of renovating the main house and it is warm , elegant and a true joy to be lucky enough to share the place with them. Gardens are fantastic and the place has so much history before it. Staff are also so friendly and accomodating. Fantastic breakfast but did not try dinner although the menu looked great.

I can only advise that if you want to stay somewhere very special then try this hotel. Also check out the wedding suit it is absolutely fantastic with a sunken spa bath over looking the gardens!!!

An exceptional experience and one we will not forget. It will be a regular stop-off point for our trips to the North East.

Room Tip: Try the wedding suit!!!!

We attended one of our extended family's wedding reception here and what a magnificent place to hold such an event. The Hall itself is wonderful and steeped in history; the grounds are splendid and the whole package with excellent food and attention to detail really made the day very special. Additionally, the bridal suite simply has to be seen to be believed. A big thank you also to the staff who could not have been more accommodating or helpful. If your daughter is getting married, and you live anywhere within this location, I doubt you could better Goldsborough Hall as a venue.

We stayed for four nights in this beautiful place whilst on a business trip. A very relaxing place to be with wonderful gardens and grounds. The couple who own this very interesting building have obviously given their all into bringing the property back to its former glory and highlighting its history with lovely photographs displayed. It was like spending time in a royal residence, as it once was, with very attentive and friendly staff. We stayed in Lascelles Suite on the top floor with glorious views of the Lime Walk, trees that were planted in the 1920's by King George V and Queen Mary. Most of the trees have a plaque to say who planted them....the queen planted a good few and I can imagine that every time she visited her daughter Princess Mary who lived there with her husband, she was presented with a spade and asked to go plant a tree......I can imagine the dialogue!

We were not in the best of moods when we arrived here. Our carefully planned day was left in tatters by a major traffic tailback on the A1 and we were not happy. Our bad mood was wiped away in one second as the door was opened to us and we entered the hall. Two hot cross bunnies became two very cool cats.

Goldsborough is everything you could possibly wish for in a hotel with the addition of splendid gardens. We were in the Hanson - already described by another reviewer below. We were sad to leave - but no longer cross.

Room Tip: The fitness centre is the garden and the swimming pool is the spa bath! Perfect.

If you want great food, wonderful accomodation, very friendly and attentive staff, then you have to visit Goldsborough Hall. From the minute we arrived until we left we were in awe of this wonderful hotel. The owners were very much in attendance and stay in the middle floor of the three story hall. The Staff are very knowledgeable about the history of the Hall and seemd very happy to share this knowlege with us. The upper floor is where the guest suites are and each one is individual and trully wonderful. You have to take time to wander round the gardens and admire the views of the surrounding countrysdie. The Chef is woderful and you really have to try the goumet seven course dinner, well worth the money. I booked it as part of a package for my Husband's 50th birthday and we had a wonderful stay. We hope to go back in the future. All I can say is go there, you won't regret it!
