Decided to take a drive out for some lunch on a very rainy Friday, after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor.
As I managed to get us horribly lost on the drive out we arrived after meals had stopped being served and the chef was about to knock off.
The chef took very little persuading from the friendly locals to keep the kitchen opened. We were really happy that he did, otherwise we would have missed the opportunity to enjoy and excellent meal and great service.
Love the pub, the food and the service

Had sunday lunch at the Royal Oak last Sunday,we hadnt booked but they just squeezed us in.
The menu was imaginative with good attention to detail and used locally sourced produce. The starters were well presented and looked a picture. whpped goats cheese balsamic, olives and tomatoes My hubby had the chicken and black pudding terrine,he enjoyed it but thought some bread would of complimented it
We liked the rustic feel of the place and you felt very relaxed and at home, service was friendly with out being over bearing
The roast beef main course was exceptional, that chef certainly knows how to serve the beef...FABULOUS.The yorkshire puds were amazing they had to come seperately as they were huge.
My only criticism is that the real ales(of which we tried two of...black sheep and mule both went flat very quickly and were a little cloudy.Im sure this is just a small hitch and by no means would it stop us visiting again
thank you for an enjoyable afternoon

Very fond of this pub!

I've visited The Royal Oak on several occasions over the last couple of years, usually accompanied by a night or two of camping. On every occasion our group (and there's always a few of us) have been greeted warmly and looked after with kindness from the friendly staff and owners. The pub itself is very well kept, decorated in a traditional style and with lovely wood burning fire in the colder months and a cozy seating area out front in the summer. Lovely ambiance!

The food is always delicious and beautifully presented, and very reasonably priced for such good quality grub, and the beer is well kept and plentiful.. it makes it very hard to stay away!

Anyone in the vicinity with an afternoon or evening free would be hard pressed to find a better place to eat or have a pint.

My wife and i decided to have a drive out and have lunch instead of cooking, it was bank holiday after all. we spotted a review in local press , it was 3 30 so i rang to check if still serving food, was answered with very curtious young man, yes food till 6pm, booked a table arrived 45 mns later.
Well what a lovely place, table decor excellant, staff so pleasant and helpfull, we both decided on roast beef, it was fantastic, sirlion about half inch thick slightly pink, just perfect also great yorkshire pudds. We liked the veg served in large bowl, much better than all plated up like most do.We had a beer each also which complimented the meal. Many Thanks will be back very soon.
