Millions of visitors from all over the world have been enchanted by the park's natural beauty, mesmerised by the Petrifying Well and enthralled by Mother Shipton's birthplace and her amazing story. The park has several scenic picnic areas, an adventure playground and museum and gift shop. Themed events run during school holidays. The park is open every day until 4th November, 10 am to 4.30pm (last admission 3.30pm). There is parking on site (£2 all day in addition to admission).

Visited with our two grandchildren and we all had a great time. The children loved the play areas and the Treasure Hunt and prize at the end! Can't understand the negative comments - what do people want for their money! We think it is great value and just very enjoyable. It is worth purchasing the guide book for £1 as this explains the whole experience and all about Mother Shipton, most interesting. We visited about 2 years ago and it has been upgraded since then. Really well worth a visit.

Probably a little over priced.

Well we decided to take our Grandson for a Mythical Experience to this enchanting Cave and Petrifying Well. There is a vast history associated with this exhibition, it is also the oldest visitors attraction in England. There have been many stories told since 1641 about Mother Shipton reputed to be hideously Ugly. Mother Shipton was a Yorkshire witch who prophesied about future events in the form of poems. Her prophecies predicted the fates of many rulers within and after her lifetime - The Great Fire of London in 1666, the defeat of the Spanish Armada and even the end of the world. She lived near the Petrifying Well which is also amazing. many things have turned to stone, superstition especially back in the days stated that if you touched the water you in turn would turn to stone. Today there are may articles hanging in the Petrifying well some given my famous personalities which hang and in time turn to stone. We did take our Grandson, he enyoed the Park, the children play area, the gardens and the castle ruins but he was a bit too young and scared for the Cave and The Petrifying Well. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definately return when he is a bit older.

Overpriced, underwhelming and poor attention to detail. We had always meant to stop here in the past and just never got around to it but one day decided to travel the 1 hour and see this for ourselves. What a disappointment. Whilst the setting is lovely, the entrance price is too high for what is after all just a cave. Whilst the story is really interesting the attraction didn't actually make the most of this unique tale. Definitely a missed opportunity and we felt bad for using up petrol just to see an empty cave with some 1970's notice boards.
