“Great location and Good Breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

Please note the hotel has undergone a change of ownership so I struggled to get hold of them to confirm my booking as the phone number had changed.

Great location right in the centre of the lovely town of Knaresborough. I first walked in the pub on a sat afternoon and wasn't sure how good it would be, as the pub looks a little tired, but the rooms are great - clean, and the beds are dead comfy. I was out all evening so couldn't comment on the noise, however I slept well (had a drink when I got back with the new managers who were very nice) and the breakfast was great too. Shame I had to order the day before, and it was between 07.30-0830 - on a Sunday. Later option would of been better :)

The new management have lots of plans for the pub and I would recommend if you are visiting the area,

There is no parking - park in the square - almost opposite - (free after 6pm and before 8) or in the Long Stay down the road by the Marquess of Granby pub - we paid £1.60 for 24 hours !!!!! Long stay is a 5 minute walk.

The views from Knaresborough Castle (behind the hotel) are great. Worth a stroll.

Room Tip: I had a room at the front and was happy with that. Rooms at the back overlook the beer garden

We stayed for two nights, just as the new owners were taking over.
Bedroom was very comfortable and well equipped, but it could do with a little TLC,paint peeling in the bathroom and a small amount of black mould around the bath and sink .
The breakfast was very good and the lady who took our order was first class, but i would have preferred it earlier, it starts at 9o'clock.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
It is very noisy at nights because of the pub below, but as we were the ones making the noise it did not bother us.

Room Tip: Take ear plugs if you not party people.

Thank-you very much for your comments, we always welcome our guests thoughts on their stay.

As you came in on hand-over day I cannot personnally comment on the condition of the rooms as they were already set up for that nights guests. I can assure you that this does not meet our standards and that the mould mentioned is no longer a problem and is checked regularly. In regard to the paint peeling the business as a whole will be receiving a large investment in the early part of 2015 to rectify all matters, but your comments have been noted and we aim to ammend the affected areas before this point.

In regard to the noise you experienced, we are sorry, this was a party arranged prior to our arrival. In future if we are aware of any reasons why our guests may be disturbed we would give them prior warning as this level of noise is not usual for us. We do hope this did not affect your stay too much!

In regard to the breakfast service, we to agree that the service was too late, we have since changed this to an earlier time window.

Thankyou for all your comments, apologies once again & we do hope that the changeover did not interfere with your stay in any way.

We hope to see you again,

Many Thanks.

At this pub for The Tour de France .The owner was lovely ,and very friendly.Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. Our room had the usual bathroom soap and gels ,and the best supply of tea bags, coffee, and milk we have ever had . We had a great nights sleep as the bed is huge and very comfortable ,and we would definitely go back there .

Stayed 1 night in June and found the room very comfortable and clean. We had a room at the rear of which was quiet. Great location for exploring Knaresborough and surrounding area.
Nice breakfast and frienldy hospitality so i would recommend a stay here either on business or leisure.

Can't fault this little public house. Friendly helpful staff, nice clean family room, perfect for our over night stay. Breakfast was very nice, with lots of choice. Even tho the rooms are above the pub, it was very quiet and you have your own entrance so that you don't have to walk though the pub.

Just had a one night stay in the family room.Staff were excellent. Nothing too much trouble. Lovely room and breakfast. The location is brilliant. The quoted ten minute walk is a gentle stroll. FYI We got a taxi back at the end of the night from the Opera house, (probably furthest attraction away) and it was only just over £6, bargain. The hotel's bar prices are also reasonable, would stay in longer on a longer trip. Definitely recommend this hotel. Thanks to all, Les & Kim.
