“Great on a sunny day.”
Reviewed 25 May 2013 via mobile

Our first visit to Plumpton Rocks was well worth the planning. We traveled from York so not too far to drive on a sunny Saturday. The rocks was easy to find and well sign posted. The charge of £3.50 for adults was good but we were not given a guide by the polite young girl (we didn't need one as we like to explore).
Its best to follow your noses and investigate what you can see. Fantastic rock formations and even better views of the lake. If you are taking young children bare in mind that there are a number of steap drops that they could fall from!!!!
Not busy at all for a weekend only 4 cars when we arrived but only saw 7 people while we were there (3 hours).
Take some good walking shoes/boots with you as it can be boggy in places.....heals and open sandles are not a good choice as we saw today.....derr!
All in all a great place for a pick nick and a chill out.
Spoke to a fisherman who said he camped there over night....but best check if you are thinking of doing the same.
ps.......go in late May and you will be great with carpets of bluebells all over the place.

“Tucked away from the crowds”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

Hidden from the crowds this attraction of large rock formation is a great place to visit with the family. Worth spending a restful afternoon with a picnic. Great adventure for younger ones

“Not bad”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

Cheap and cheerful fun here and good for the children. Some weird rocks. Allow an hour here that's all, not a lot to do but having said that it is worth a visit. Especially on a nice sunny day.

“Don't make a special journey”
Reviewed 27 March 2013

Been coming very occasionally since childhood and to be honest it’s just not that good.
It’s a scenic view from the dam wall and a pleasant walk through the woods but nothing you can’t see elsewhere, and unfortunately it’s not that peaceful any more due to traffic noise. The top end is always very boggy as the stream spreads and meanders its way into the lake.
The rock formations are interesting but a lot less so than Brimham Rocks. What I like most is the lack of ‘elf and safety – barely any signs, steep drops, slippery ground etc. Like things used to be.
All in all it’s worth visiting once if you’re passing, short of something to do, and the weather’s nice (especially in spring), but certainly not worth a special trip and it’s expensive for what it is. You’ll need boots.
