I stayed here in September 2011. I was the bridesmaid for my friend who was getting married at a church in Knaresborough and then having her reception at Allerton castle. The wedding party practicaly took over the guest house! Myself and another of the bridesmaids stayed in a room that interconnected with the room the bride and her sister were staying in which was very handy for us getting ready the next morning. The rooms were lovely, very tastfully decorated with a super comfy bed. All the little details were great, like the biscuits, well stocked minibar and the luxury toliteries.

Denise who I think is the owner was lovely and extremely helpful throughout our stay. She helped us find a storage place for the flowers overnight (in the cellar) arranged coffee and tea on our arrival and was very obliging with any requests we had.

My husband stayed in the room with me the second night and they turned the room from a twin room to a king room with minimal fuss.

The breakfast was delicious with a large selection of juices, cereals and fruits to help yourself to. The hot food cooked to order was promptly served and again there was a large selection.

I would highly recommend this guest house to friends and family looking for a luxury break in Knaresborough.

Just enjoyed a weekend break at Newton House and what a lovely experience it was. Denise met us as we arrived and was very friendly. She gave us some excellent advise about the local choices for evening meal. The room was first class and the breakfast had a very varied choice. The produce used was top quality and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone staying in this area.

We were visiting Knaresborough for a Mary Coughlan concert at the Frazer Theatre, and although we only live just over an hour away we decided to stay overnight, and chose Newton House. Denise, the manager, welcomed us, and was very helpful advising on possible places to eat before the concert. We had room 12 , which was ground floor at the back, and very peaceful. Lovely big room, and clean modern bathroom. We felt so lucky to have picked this accommodation, as we looked at some of the other possible options as we walked around Knaresborough later and they did not look appealing at all. The breakfast was delicious as described by many other reviewers. Such good choice for all tastes.
Knaresborough was a grim let-down. We had anticipated a traditional northern market town, with interesting shops, (probably a mini Harrogate?)but were very disappointed with the town generally, and the suggested eating places did not draw us in, so we finally, reluctantly, opted for Drakes fish and chip restaurant - which was very good, but not quite what we had in mind for a pre-concert meal! Still, you cannot always get everything you want. Would go again to this B and B, but unlikely to want to stay in Knaresborough again, sadly.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a room at the front of the hotel whilst our travelling companions had a room at the rear. Slight road noise at the front but didn't cause any problems. Rooms, as previously mentioned are large, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Breakfasts in the morning were terrific, particularly the baked fruits. The staff were friendly and helpful and Denise was always on hand to recommend great places to visit and eat. Location is also perfect, being only a few minutes from the town square and buses to further afield. Would stay here again in an instant.

What a wonderful B&B. Very comfortable and homely and the bedrooms had everything you could possibly need. Breakfasts were superb, with a vast choice and freshly cooked to order. All staff were pleasant and helpful and Denise should be congratulated on offering such superb service.

Room Tip: I don't think it matters, they are all extremely good.

My room was very large and generously appointed, including a mini-bar. There was a huge choice of food at breakfast, both on the cold buffet which included home-made preserves, and also the freshly prepared hot meals.
Being right in the town centre, the location is excellent. Several pubs and restaurants in easy walking distance.
There is a decent private car park, though some care is needed due to the narrow entrance.
All in all, surprisingly good for its price range.

Room Tip: If road noise is likely to worry you, ask for a room at the back or in the old stable block.
