We had a great new year stay, nothing was too much bother and would have no qualms about returning anytime.

Rooms great and well equipped with high quality finish. Staff made us feel very at home.

Stayed for a couple of nights in one of the courtyard rooms which had a huge comfy bed and all neccessary facilities. Very clean and comfortable. Staff and owners were very attentive, helpful and friendly.
Took our two dogs who were made more than welcome and bedding/towels/treats also provided for them.
Ideal location for centre and resteraunts / bars etc.
Breakfast very extensive and excellent quality. Needed to stay longer to enjoy everything on offer!
Could not recommend more and will certainly return.

We stayed two nights based on the tripadvisor reviews and can agree this is a lovely place to spend time. Very clean, well specified and comfortable. We stayed in room 1, which was large and well appointed. The hosts (Mark & Lisa) could not have been more friendly and went out of their way to help with our questions, making the stay very pleasurable. If we're in the area, we'd stay again.

I chose this charming B&B at the last minute purely on the basis of the multitude of 5 star reviews it has received on this website. After staying for 2 nights in late October, I quickly discovered why everyone loved their experience there. Put simply, it was cosy, spotlessly clean and the staff (also the owners) of Mark & Lisa were exceptionally helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel special. They took the time to help us with every single detail of our trip - where to go for the best sights, the best places to eat, the best roads etc. We felt that we were staying with good friends and I could find no faults with our experience. There are bigger B&Bs, better located and with better facilities but I defy anyone to find a cosier, friendlier place to stay - it was that good.

Stayed at Newton House for 2 nights in late October - just fantastic!!
Great service from Mark and Lisa from beginning to end. The room we booked was at the front of the hotel and very comfortable, the bed was huge, the shower was warm and wet...
If you need a quiet, friendly place to stay near Harrogate or York, you won't go wrong here...

This was my second trip to this little hotel but the first time for a few nights and for leisure. Went with my whole family... Wife, 11 year old boy, 5 month old boy two West Highland Terriers. First thing to note is that this hotel is genuinely pet friendly and you don't need to take your own bowls, bedding for them etc. Its all there when you arrive along with a treat or two.
No cot or bathing equipment for the baby either it was all there and baby monitors to allow you to go guest or breakfast room if you should wish to do so. They even lay on toys etc etc etc.
Very comfortable beds for us and a single for our son. As comfortable as any top hotel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in a few and travelled about a bit. Nice little mini bar in the room without the truly outrageous rip off prices. Proprietors are excellent and make you most welcome. Off-street parking is secure at night in the courtyard. Breakfast is well presented and is good quality. Room has flat screen TV with DVD player with a limited free DVD selection from the guest room available. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to explore Yorkshire which is a great area with lots to do. If you have kids and pets YOU WON'T GET BETTER. We will be returning soon.
