Stumbled accross this resturant by accident- there were few clues to how good it would be outside.

Arrived about half eight on a wednesday and told there was a weight for a table- usually a good sign. We settled on our bar stools and would have been happy to have been served there but the waitress siad that they preffered not to serve us at the bar.

We ordered four tapas- with full intention of ourdering more- our experience in spain suggesting that tasty but tiny portions may be coming our way. We were wrong! The food was of the highest quality and whilst Spanish in theme in no way rustic. The prawns in tequila a highlight. We enjoyed a bottle of cava with our food and came out beaming as for around £50 including wine we had had one of the best meals of our lives.

We promise to return soon.

My wife and I ate from the Tappas menu, selecting 4 dishes. we needed no dessert after these. Each of the dishes was excellent. Carraiges, with it's excellent food, service and value is the kind of place that makes you believe that there are still a few places out there really worth visiting.

Visited the (2 of us) the small and unpretentious little restaurant last night and had a most enjoyable experience! Waiters could not have been more helpful and pleasant and were efficient in their serving. Food was exceptional - we both had a different starter and mains Just excellent simple and authentic cuisine nicely presented, just the way we like it,, They specialise in new world wines as well as old, the staff were happy to guide us through their interesting, unusual list and (on request) made recommendations to accompany our food. Absolutely no wine snobbery here! A very pleasant ambiance we were able to talk comfortably and were not hassled by the staff. service is always good even when the restaurant is full - which it usually is at weekends. we arrived at 7:30pm and left at 10:30pm. What more could you want?

This is a local restaurant as we live in Knaresborough. We probably don't go as often as we would like even though it's on our doorstep.
It's close to the railway station and convenient for the local bus service. It's even walking distance for us - about a 20 min walk. The atmosphere can be vibrant, but cosy depending on what night you go, booking is almost always a must, especially at weekends.
It's a old building with stone floors and wooden tables with some rickety wooden chairs, which all adds to the cosy feel. The only downside if there is one, and it's probably being picky, but as the building is old the ladies toilet's are upstairs up a very narrow dog leg staircase, not the easiest, and certainly need to be negotiated carefully after a few glasses of wine !!
The restaurant is closed on Monday's, but every other night open offering a fantastic Tapas menu and an Early Bird option. Their Al a Carte menu has some great choices, although we've never eaten from this, as the Tapas has been too good to resist!
It'a also a popular place to meet friends early evening just to have a drink.
It's a fantastic restaurant to have on our doorstep and we will continue to go at every opportunity.
