“Warm Welcome”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Last minute decision to go some where for a special occasion meal.

We got the last table in the bar very lucky as the whole place was very busy.
Order was taken quickly and food arrived in a timely manner.
We ordered the Chefs Sea food Salad (with chips) and pork loin stuffed with apricots and cranberries.
The Sea food salad was immense, almost food for the week, very well presented and the complimentary tastes were a tour de force.
The pork loin was lovely with vegetables beautifully cooked and chips to die for.

Add to which the warm welcome by the host and the open coal fire made for a very pleasnt evening.

We'll be back

We would recommend that you book ahead for this venue

“What a beautiful pub and beautiful setting!!!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We were staying in log cabins at Cropton Forest, and yet somehow we ended up coming back to this pub every day and eating on two of those occasions! The food was fantastic, and the beer...well, also fantastic! The Ginger Beer (but not actually Ginger Beer!?!) was a treat! What a great pub and an amazing location. The landlord Pete was extremely friendly and welcoming and we will definately be back....soon!

“Great country pub in picturesque village”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

Set in an idyllic Yorkshire village and opposite the church, this pub is particularly nice on a sunny day and offers outside seating at the front and in the garden - ideal for dogs. The menu offers plenty of choice whether for a full three course meal or a hot snack, with generous portions. The pub itself is very pretty with quaint old country style bar and restaurant area. Service was good and fairly prompt. Although we stopped only for food and drinks it also has B&B, which may be useful as it is quite a drive though a very scenic one) from the nearest towns, Pickering is the nearest. Seems ideal for walkers or anyone passing through - also serving ice creams etc. We will certainly call again if we are in the area.

“Gorgeous”
Reviewed 22 May 2014 via mobile

Stopped off at the Blacksmiths Arms recently for lunch. We ordered Parma Chicken with chips and veg, and a meat and chicken salad and a bottle of red. The meals were gorgeous. The chicken was succulent and the salad was amazing. The red wasn't that great though but maybe that was the wrong choice on our part. Can't recall the name sorry. We sat outside on some comfy rattan furniture and soaked up the fantastic surroundings. Staff were very nice. They have a beer garden too. Lastingham is lovely and the pub is situated opposite the pretty church and graveyard, the old schoolhouse and village hall.

“A lovely afternoon”
Reviewed 19 May 2014 via mobile

Dropped in late Sunday afternoon after a weekend in Scarborough and then a couple of hours exploring the moors on a very hot day. Intention was to have 1 drink then move on; ended up spending 3 hours there and eating a late lunch in the beer garden. The food was excellent, matched by 4 pints of very well kept beer. Highly recommended.
