“Great hospitality”
Reviewed 22 May 2010

The Allerton Court Hotel has all the accommodations of home. I have been staying at the hotel for the past 3 months and from the first day the staff has been great along with meals that they sever. The hotel is also located close to town and the train station which I can easily walk to or if I am running late they have a taxi service that is available upon making a call. Being so far from home in the US, I could not ask for better accommodations and hospitality.

My wife and I stayed for one night. The room decorations seemed a bit out of date and the architecture and garden lacked character but it was all very clean and tidy. The staff were charming and helpful. Lunch was plentiful and the cooked breakfast was excellent. It was very good value indeed.

I stayed at Allerton Court Hotel on a Friday night on business. The hotel is just to the north of the town centre surrounded by commercial premises: this means that there are no noisy goings on at night. The place has been refurbished recently and is in good decorative order. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was standard fare. For a business trip, I want a warm, comfortable and quiet room. Allerton Court Hotel provided exactly what I required and I therefore give it 5/5.

Room was good. I got an executive room after reading previous reviews. The bathroom was pretty nice, bed was a bit firm and room a little chilly but not something to complain about.

I ate dinner both nights i was there in the bar. The food was excellent and average price. Both nights i was full after my dinner and couldnt eat any more and tasty food.

I ate breakfast both mornings in the restaurant and this was less impressive. Seemed to lack atmosphere of any kind, the cold food was limited to cereal but there was a menu for hot food which was including with the room.

The first morning i ordered 2 sausages and toast with a view to making a sausage sandwich. unfortunately one of the sausages wasnt anywhere near cooked properly and i settled for one.
the second morning i ordered a sausage sandwich and got properly cooked sausages in two slices of bread. no butter and not toasted. i was under the impression the bread would be toasted for a sausage sandwich, but i could be wrong.

the staff were friendly enough. and i especially enjoyed the evening meals. wireless throughout the hotel meant i was able to work on my laptop on the bar, a bonus.

i would use this hotel again.

Arrived at 8.45pm after a 4hr drive. Met by miserable male receptionist - 'computer says no' type. Was told that I would be unable to get a coffee in the bar, nor would I be able to get room service - despite the hotel info in the room saying that room service was available until 9pm.

The room itself was nasty - the carpet covered in cigarette burns and stains of an indeterminate nature. The ceiling was cracked and very poor repair and repaint jobs done. The bathroom was dated and dirty - the grouting stained, cracked and mouldy, the taps and plughole corroded, limescale everywhere. However the towels were clean and the bedding apeared to be clean. The rooms urgently need refurbishment - ignore all the glossy images on the website.

Breakfast this morning was a soulless affair - I waited around for 12 minutes wondering if a member of staff might notice they had a guest at some point. The food was okay, but took a long time to arrive, despite my being the only person in the restaurant.

Had it not been so late and had I not been so tired, I would have gone somewhere else. Strongly recommend you do the same.

I have stayed at a number of hotels in the Northallerton area and this is by far the best. One of the big advantages is that it is only a short drive from the towns High Street.
Although from the outside this looks like a motel from an American Highway and the welcome is not always friendly, the rooms are generally large and well equipped, with plenty of storage space, comfortable beds, flat screen freeview TV and seperate table and chairs to spread yourself out. When refurbishing this hotel though, theyforgot about the bathrooms, although functional, they are straight out of the 70's with plum coloured three piece suite, temperamental taps and powerless electirc shower. The rooms do come with wi-fi though!
The breakfast at the hotel is adequate with limited cereals, but cooked breakfast made fresh to order. Also the bar and restaurant in the evening comes to life with surprisingly good hearty pub meals, prepared and presented well.
If in the area for a short stay I would look no further than this hotel.

  • Liked — The evning meal and wi-fi in the rooms
  • Disliked — The often poor service, particularly at breakfast

We stayed here for 2 nights in November 2008. The staff are very attentive and the bedroom was really nice. Unfortunately, they haven't yet finished refurbishing the bathrooms and ours was very dated - although extremely clean. Breakfast was well cooked with a good choice of food cooked to order, along with buffet style cereals etc. The drinks in the bar were expensive for the area, but most hotels are the same. Overall I would stay here again if visiting Northallerton.
