“Beautiful place with plenty for all ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

I love this picturesque old Priory, it's very peaceful, historically interesting and there's plenty of room for the kids to run and climb in safety. The Manor House is lovely to visit too and as you would expect from an English Heritage property it has all the amenities you would expect and a nice little shop to finish. Definitely recommend if you enjoy historical ruins.

“Very Interesting”

Fascinating, what history that we just don't have in Australia. A beautiful outlook, although we had a muddy entrance (from the coast to coast track out the back)

“Enjoyable visit to Mount Grace Priory.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

This was well worth a visit and is free for English Heritage members.
The Manor house is a lovely to look around with exhibits and information about the families that have lived there. There are 3 floors to look around and we found it interesting.
Outside is the lovely ruins of the priory itself, the layout was clear and there were information boards around the grounds explaining the history of Mount Grace and the monks that served there.
There were individual cells that were clear to see and one cell had been restored which gave the experience of what life must have been like at the priory.
The garden was full of colour and very picturesque.Work was being done to put a bridge from the main garden across to an island in the grounds which should look lovely when it is completed.
There are several benches and picnic tables in the grounds where you can sit and take in the views. The shop had the usual jams and gifts for sale and the staff were friendly and helpful.
This was a lovely day out and we would certainly visit again.

“What a great historic place, fantastic visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

This place is amazing. The house is fabulous and the guides in the rooms are just full of knowledge which they want to impart. The house is just great to look around then there are the monastery ruins. The ruins are incredible and don't miss the great reproduction cell/unit of how the monks lived which is behind what appears as a closed door. Despite the isolation they lead a reasonable life and had good quarters.
A great place to visit and allow a few hours to visit. If you are a member of the national trust or English heritage it is free.
