“Breathtaking views”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Intact castle keep, exhibitions, gardens, castle walls and breathtaking views across Swaledale. Wonderful. The exhibitions above the info centre/gift shop are very informative. The exhibition about the Richmond 16 is very poignant and makes you think. One piece of writing said so long ago can still be said now and have the same meaning. Climb the castle keep if you can, the views are worth the climb. Will return again and again.

“Lovely Historical Place!!!”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Lots of information about the history, well worth a visit. Not too much money for the entrance neither. Views from the top of the tower were breathtaking!!!

“Interesting visit”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

Visited on a rainy day in October. Interesting to go round and see the well preserved ruins. The guidebook helps it all make a bit more sense. Shop and exhibition as well

“Lovely day, but buy a guidebook”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

Good day, but we should have bought the guidebook sooner to know what we're looking at. Don't miss the exhibition upstairs, as we didn't think it would be up to much, and were pleasantly surprised to find a great exhibition for the kids!

A magnificent ruin with a fully intact castle keep which allows you to climb to the top and to take in the spectacular views across the countryside.
