I've been wanting to visit for 32 years. Finally visited today.
Richmond Castle filled me with some awe.

Perfect location for a castle. Beautiful views and friendly staff. £6.30 entry for adults. National Heritage members are free.

Climb the stairs- it is well worth it to see the insides of this old castle, and the incredible views from the top. Some of the steps are very worn with age. The Edinburgh castle felt like Disneyland with all the crowds, while Richmond Castle felt like it was ours for a few hours. The museum area was very informative as well.

A great place to go and well worth making a detour for. Audio tour always worth doing and in particular here

Overlooks the town which itself is well worth a visit. There is a climb up to the top of the castle, but there are seats on the way. The view from the tower is well worth the effort. What an imposing place.

This place is brilliant! It's really interesting without being too big or giving too much information as you go around it. The toilets are clean and the gift shop is extensive. I particularly enjoyed the exhibition about the conscientious objectors who were kept locked up here. The staff were friendly and helpful.
