We were very disappointed to find that out of the 3 rooms booked, only 1 was ensuite. We felt that the advertising was very misleading in this respect. The situation on a corner of two roads is not ideal, and generally we felt that it was not good value for money. On the positive side our 'in house' supper was good.

The house looks good from afar. Dont be fooled. The kitchen is in need of a good clean. As we booked for self catering we found we could not use the facilities in the kitchen, ie the cooker or the frying pan as this was not clean from previous guests.
The bedroom was clean and tidy but very tired. Whole house needs updating and we found something much cheaper and clean for the duration of our stay. Would not recommend this as a three star as we have visited many lower rated B&Bs over the years with much better facilities and cleanliness.

After a little searching, found this B & B near Scotch Corner as we were travelling north for a wedding.

After a long journey it was great to be able to have a home cooked meal served by the owner Sally. Berakfast was also good with a wide choice.

Our room could have done with a litle upgrade as I do not think it is good to see wires from the TV and lights loose, but these are only minor quibbles.

All in all a good value B & B so near to the A1, yet away from the noise and a much better experience and better value than the chain one there!

Having free wi-fi was a bonus.

Very convenient for breaking a journey from the south coast to Scotland, Lucy Cross is situated on a minor road that did not require a diversion as it cut across a corner on our route from the A1 to the A68. Sally, a retired jockey, provided a warm welcome with tea and cakes and the accomodation was very comfortable and well appointed. The bonus, for a B&B, was the generous three course meal including a roast which most residents took advantage of. No need to search for good food on unfamiliar territory.

Lucy Cross Farm is the best place i have stayed in the UK . The rooms are beautiful and spacious. Sally is the perfect host, with a quiet welcoming manner, that immdiately puts you at your ease. All this with great traditional breakfasts and free wireless internet connection makes the price great value for money.

Lucy Cross is wonderful. A home from home. Comfortable rooms, beautiful views across the Dales, fabulous breakfasts - proper home-cooked food (no silly individual packs of butter and jam, the real deal and as much as you want). Sally is just wonderful, there if you want anything, discreetly absent if you don't. Our choice of accommodation whenever we are in North Yorkshire. Great centre for touring from, lovely pubs nearby with good food, but Sally's dinners are worth staying in for. Free Internet, so we could deal with things away from home, plenty of off-road parking. There's a self-catering cottage that we plan to take over as a family next time, and we can even bring the dog! If you want a genuine farm stay you couldn't do better.
