Finally getting around to reviewing places from a trip we took in September of 2017. What a fantastic place. Our group of 6 loud Americans cabbed over from Darlington just to visit this pub. We entered around 4:30 and stayed for 4 or 5 hours.
The publican and copublican were gracious hosts and agreeably amenable. We were told that an enjoyable brown ale was next in line once the current cask on was finished. Challenge accepted and well worth the effort. Fresh, quaffable brown was perfect for the cool Yorkshire night.
Our dinner was sporadically served (by our choosing) over the night and everything was stupendous. If it is available, try the rabbit pie; it was one of the best dishes any of us had over the course of our visit to the UK.
If you have the time, make it a point to visit this pub. It'll be well worth it.
