Visiting area on a short break, consulted Gourmet website for available restaurants and found Tandioori Night. Ascended the stairs to find friendly staff, straightforward 1990s style restaurant with a typically large menu with plenty of vegetarian choices. A little surprised by the lack of alcohol but have found this with some previous Indian restaurants and as driving it was no big deal, more surprised by the lack of electronic payment - had 'emergency' cash so not embarrassed. Standard popadoms and pickles, starters; mutter paneer came as chick peas and melted cheese, more like an unusual chana paneer, mushroom pakoras were brilliant, great variety of shrooms and light batter. Mains; Aloo Tharkare, unfortunately contained no green pepper, just potato in a very red sauce, Vegetable Thalli, good selection of reduced size veg dishes exactly as described on menu and well presented.
All was well cooked but not the most exciting Indian meal.

Orderd a takeaway and went to collect, they said 30 minutes so i arrived 30 minutes later then was told it is still cooking, then they got angry when i asked 15 minutes later where it was,i ended up waiting just an hour in total, wouldnt mind if they had said that at the start but to sit for half an hour makes me think whats the point in pre-ordering,

it was midweek and only a few people in so hardly due to demand, when i did get home the food was bland and the mixed starter and sizzler had no lamb in at all and instead mushroom bhajis even though when i orderd i was told it had lamb in it and no mention of mushroom as i hate them!

It seemed to me they just threw what random things they had in the container, i was going to ring to complain but thought what is the point as i would have to waste another hour collecting or them delivering so just wont use them again and i advise you to consider doing the same

Stayed for one night in Richmond with my wife and decided to go to this Indian over another in the town.
After reading most of the reviews saying how good this restaurant is, I didn’t recognise it as the same place.
As you do, we started with popadums and picked tray. Nothing special, the usual uninspiring pickles.
We then had to ask to order drinks. I ordered a beer only to be told they don’t sell alcohol. “great!” There was no way I was now going to trek the town to find somewhere that sells beer and wine like the local wino, so we ordered soft drinks.
When the mains came they were hot and there was plenty, although there was a lot of sauce. The food was not bad just average.
This is typical Indian take away food and is by no way authentic Indian cuisine. Most of the dishes were so brightly coloured the amount of food colouring used was not needed.
The evening was topped off when I went to pay with the trusted credit card. “ We don’t accept credit card”. What restaurant doesn’t accept CC?
I then had to go and find an ATM to get some cash. Not before having to leave something behind as he didn’t trust me to come back. Ironically for a bill of £33 I left a £700 phone.
This is a very average unlicensed Indian restaurant that only takes cash.
