My family enjoyed a celebration at the Brownlow Arms recently. Food is reasonably priced and delicious, whatever you opt for. Lots of variety on the chalkboard (fish, game, meat) and great options for vegetarians especially the veggie Fajitas, salad and real chips that were a hit with one member of our party. Lovely dessert options too from whisky and marmalade bread and butter pudding to Baileys chocolate cheesecake and heavenly Eton Mess (when they have it).

You do not need to get dressed up to go there, as it's quite rustic.

The only thing that stopped me from giving 5 stars is the very slow service. Some things are worth waiting for, but perhaps not that long. Service with a smile wouldn't go amiss either.

It is still worth a visit and I will return.

Have visited on many occasions and service is always friendly if sometimes slow! One of the great things about this place which has remained through changes of ownership is the options to eat in either the bar or restaurant and a choice of menus. Blackboard meat, fish and game has always been the draw here and the dishes, whilst not cheap in some people's eyes, are superb.

The weekday early evening specials menu is as good as the full menu, same quality, super value.

There is a good vegetarian menu here and it contains some different items to the staple lasagne! The deserts are always highly praised and on this visit we all chose a different option and all were very good.

Children are welcome and well catered for and this remains the favourite restaurant for mine even into adulthood!

When so many pubs are closing or becoming chain or bland affairs, the retention of traditional surroundings, open fire and a bar area are this place's selling points.

The food was good enough, not rave worthy though but the waiting staff although friendly have disappeared on us both times we have eaten here at Sunday lunchtimes! We have had to go and find them both times to order desserts. Wouldn't rush back.

My husband and I used to be regulars at The Brownlow before children and prior to moving house and it has remained on our favourites list particularly for Sunday Lunch. Our children are now both huge fans too. Unpretentious, delicious, home cooked food which never fails to impress. There is nowhere in the area that serves rare beef quite as well as The Brownlow. Lunch last Sunday was superb, the service very efficient and the bill very reasonable. Well done guys!

we were taken to the brownlow arms for our wedding anniversary by my parents - what a fabulous meal, I had duck pancakes with ho sin sauce, followed by spicy pork tenderloin with orange and cranberry sauce and then lemon cheesecake. All the food was so tasty. I'm not keen on spicy food so the waitress said she would ask the chef to put less spice into the pork and it was sooo delicious. The cheesecake was definitely homemade and not a buy in option and very nice too. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area of passing by.
