We only called in for food so cannot comment on accomodation, but the bar meal we had was spot on, large portions so we were very full after a starter and main and felt rather greedy, both had steaks cooked to perfection, will certainly visit again.

Four of us each chose a different main meal. All were excellent, well presented and were most tasty and the price was right. Another place on our list to visit once again very soon . We didn't stay overnight as we live within an hour of the pub.

We booked to stay here on the 9th August 2013 to visit our son at Catterick Army Barracks. We phoned to confirm the room a couple of days before. On the day after an 8 hour car journey and very tired we arrived at 5 o' clock to find the whole place shut up and locked. Not a soul around. We waited but no one came. We knocked and did a reckie of the place but could not get in. We rang but no one answered. We left a message for someone to ring us but no one got back to us. We ended up having to find somewhere else. Utterly disgraceful and no way to run a business. Doesn't even deserve rating.

It is clearly stated on your booking information that the pub is closed between 3-6pm. There is no check in during these times, if you required a special check in time one would have been provided for you.
If your timings are correct, then you did not wait for very long, as the manager was at the pub at 5:20 pm to set up for opening at 5:30pm.
There is also a large sign at the front of the pub which clearly states our opening times, i.e. Friday 5:30-1200pm.
And the reason you did not receive a follow up phone call was because you failed to leave a contact number on your message, so the manager was unable to return your call

The rooms were of a poor standard,.,, look a lot better on the Internet to what they are actually like! They are very cheaply decorated. The shower was like a shower in a caravan. The morning after the cleaner was pestering us to get out if the room and totally had the face on! Not a pleasant stay. Food was rather nice though.
