The Castle is a comfortable traditional market town pub with an extensive menu. We both opted for a childhood favourite of minced beef, onions and dumpling. It arrived quickly and we were warned "Careful the plates are hot" - always a good sign! The large plates were very full with mince, onions, chips, broccoli, butternut squash, carrots and peas topped with a large herb dumpling. The meals cost a total of £12.00 and we commented that this was a very good price for two large, very good quality meals,. A bottle of Italian Pino Grigio cost £11.00.
The atmosphere in the pub was very pleasant and we both agreed "That's what all pub meals should be like."
