“A brilliant find in a beautiful area.”
Reviewed 5 June 2012

We stayed 3 nights and found that the Nuns Cottage was perfect for our needs. The room was well decorated and the bed was very comfy. We also enjoyed the sherry in the room, it was a delightful touch. The bathroom was well appointed and the dressing gowns in the room meant it wasn't a problem popping down the corridor. The breakfasts in the morning were delicious, I especially enjoyed the raspberries! Most of the food comes from local business which is a fantastic touch. Judith was a brilliant host and we would really recommend that you pay the Nuns Cottage a visit. It is everything you need and more for a long weekend.

Room Tip: Room 2 is a good size double room. Looking out towards the town.

We stayed here for a nearby wedding and found the room to be very cosy. Lots of books are provided as well as complimentary sherry! The owner was very friendly and helpful and even ironed my partner's shirt for him! Breakfast was also excellent, if a little early.

We stayed in the self catering cottage for a week and used Richmond as a base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Judith is a friendly and caring host and we found the accommodation very comfortable. Every little detail had been thought of and every eventuality taken care of. The cottage was very clean and cosy and whilst the kitchen was compact we were able to cook our own meals and experience home away from home. We also enjoyed the pretty garden setting and sitting in the courtyard at the front of the cottage. Nuns Cottage is perfect for a relaxing holiday at a reasonable price.

I stayed for a whole whole month of research at Judith & Rod's superb B&B, Nuns Cottage, ideally placed 3 minutes walk from the Market Place and only 5 minutes from the impressive Richmond Castle with its breathtaking views.
You cannot fool somebody who stays for a whole month: I found the little self-accomodation flat absolutely ideal!
Judith and Rod are marvellous people, they let you keep your privacy, but if you want their help they really go out of their way to make your stay perfect. The serve "beyond the call of duty"! I can only recommend Richmond as ideal for Yorkshire Dales & Moors, and Nuns Cottage as "second to none"!

I booked Nun's Cottage as a birthday present for my husband. On my part it was a random 'let's see where we can go' suprise. The cottage is beautiful. It is a small, but luxurious guest house, restored by people who really care about about how it should look and feel - it's clearly a labour of love. The owners are friendly but not intrusive and the breakfast was wonderful. They have a small library and books are available in the bedrooms. Nun's Cottage is a place that's clearly loved by its owners. We stayed there in winter, where there was little else to do but snuggle down and enjoy the hospitality, and we revelled in it. If you are looking for a lovely, quirky place, and want to spend time relaxing, reconnecting and romancing then it's the perfect getaway. Richmond itself is fairly quaint, though not enough to hold the attentions of a tourist for much more than an afternoon. Unfortunately we have moved so far away now that it makes it difficult for us to visit again, but Nun's Cottage is the perfect place if you want to relax, feel cosseted and chilled out then it's perfect. One point to note - the building is listed to within an inch of its life so there are no ensuites. However, every room has its own private lovely bathroom located very close by- again beautifully appointed and wonderfully relaxing. Enthusiastically recommnded.
