5 stars for ambience. With "Grand design" style open windows, you got great views of the dales
The lodges are nestled away in the landscape of the dales, but just close enough (20min walk) to a cute village town centre to get to restaurants and local grocery shops.
The lodge itself was spacious enough for 6 people for a weekend but I'm not sure it would have been spacious enough for a week.
Very friendly concierge service.
The welcome basket of fresh bread, local cheese, butter, preserve etc was a very nice touch.

Only issues were:
- lack of storage space/shelves in the toilets to stash toiletries bags
- floors were sticky so bring a pair of flipflops or slippers
- Dishwasher was not great - left stains despite having rinsed before putting dishes in.

Would recommend this place and I would like to visit the other natural retreats branches after having been to this one.

Room Tip: We were in Lodge 6. Better for a family than a group of friends as there were only 2 toilets and 2 o...

We stayed in Lodge 3 from the 14th to 18th May, and couldn't have had a more amazing time!

Myself, my partner, our friends and their 3yr old daughter arrived late Tuesday afternoon after the satnav took us down the very bumpy country road next to a massive military live shooting range - you could safely say our nerves were slightly frazzled! Entering the site, there was some confusion over which lodge was to be ours, but a quick call from the ever helpful Michael had us parked up and in number 3 in no time. The heating was already on and the place was pleasantly cosy - not cloyingly warm which told me the heating was put on in great timing to our arrival. Nothing worse than being cooped up in a car for several hours to walk into an oven! We were all also excited with our welcome hamper, milk and cheese already in the fridge (if we wanted, we could have requested sausages and bacon too) and in a pretty wicker basket, a bottle of wine, ginger biscuits, crusty bread, jam, and ground coffee - all organic and locally sourced, except the wine (which was Australian). We all unpacked, with Little Miss 3 very excited about having a massive bed all to herself! The night was lovely, sitting on the decking with a glass of wine watching day turn into night with no street lights and no sound but birdsong ringing through the trees. An unforgettable experience for this city girl! Later on we also lit the log fire, and by the time my head hit the pillow in the firm yet comfortable bed, I was already dreaming up ways to stay forever.

The cabin is thoughtfully laid out, the master bedroom is massive with a great en suite complete with walk in shower. The other 2 bedrooms are small but not uncomfortable, each with plenty of soft white towels provided. The family bathroom again has plenty of space and was fitted with a full size bath and overhead shower, both had lovely toiletries. The utility room is well appointed, as is the kitchen. We were surprised that we didn't even need the dishwashing tablets or antibacterial spray we brought, all were provided!

All in all, we had a wonderful, relaxing time, Michael was a fantastic help and obviously proud of his place of work (as well he should be!) and I can't wait to go back.

Amazing location so relaxing and peaceful, the lodges are excellent having just been refurbished to a very high standard. We stayed in lodge three which we thought was in a nice position it had the pond in front which may not be so good if you had children with you.We did some of the suggested walks found in the information pack, also the Italian restaurant is well worth a visit. The staff at natural retreats are very helpful and will go out of their way for you.Hope to return again, would certainly recommend this lovely place.

Just got back from a family break here 3 nights over the weekend, 6 adults 2 dogs and a 3 year old. There was more than enough room for all of us, everything was perfect we didnt need anything extra. My husband adoreed the log fire and this became his 'toy'. We stayed in Cabin 10 and each had our own en-suite wet room. The beds were comfy, rooms were warm Dishwasher was a life saver i have no complaints at all and we will be back. And as for people complaining about the sofa size we had 6 adults cuddled up on there chatting and 2 of us are pregnant!

We will be back

Just got back from three days staying in Number 9 at Natural Retreats. It was a lovely relaxing break in lovely surroundings but definitely not worth £220 a night. I'm not sure how 6 adults would get on in the cabin as there was only enough space to watch TV comfortably with two people sat on the sofas.

The landscape could do with a bit of, well, landscaping because it could look beautiful but it's just a bit drab at the moment. We couldn't get enough of all the cute bunnies running about though!

The cabin was lovely, clean and well stocked but we were really disappointed not to have a bath, just showers. Also, something that annoyed me was that it said on the website that you were going to get Temple Spa toiletries, but we didn't, just basic ones. I know that's picky, but I love Temple Spa so was looking forward to the goodies!

We also didn't have enough firelighters for the fire which was annoying. This could of been rectified if I had phoned the manager but it seemed a bit pathetic!

It sounds like I'm just bashing the place for the sake of it, but it really was lovely, just not worth the money. If you can afford to spend that kind of money on a regular basis, these things won't bother you, but this was a real treat for us, so expected better.

We had 3 nights here over Easter and we had a wonderful time. The lodges are beautiful and very cosy. We were worried that they might be too close together but we had lodge 11 which seemed to largely be on its own and we didn't notice other people at all despite the fact it was obviously very busy over Easter. The lodges were absolutely gorgeous. We loved the fire, the showers were excellent and the kitchen was very well equipped. The welcome hamper was also a nice touch.

Our boiler seemed to turn itself off so on occasion the lodge got a bit cold but they immediately came over to help us fix it when we called. The sofa and a couple of the chairs could have done with a bit of a better clean but, other than that, it was perfect.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time and really did not want to leave at all! We look forward to exploring more Natural Retreats properties!
