We stayed here with our 2 dogs in the midst of a squally February. The location has amazing views across the valleys and is very well situated for the coast to Coast path and some lovely country walks, and only a 20 minute walk into the lovely small town of Richmond. The lodge was well appointed clean and warm on our arrival, the layout was good and the dogs enjoyed the wall to wall glass doors which they thought were put there especially so they could watch all the bunny rabbits hopping around!! The weather was a bit hit and miss which meant the dogs sometimes came back very filthy so an outside hose could have helped lessen the dirt going inside the lodge! It was lovely to use the white stuff toiletries however when I wanted a bubble bath it was impossible to to take the bottle out of the holder which is at standing height. The kitchen looked lovely and was well equipped, some of the cupboard doors are showing signs of wear with the veneer coming away from the frames of cupboards and drawers but that doesn't detract from the lodge in the slightest. The staff on site were very helpful, checking soon after we arrived that we had everything we needed and making sure the log store was replenished as they promised. The site was clean and very well laid out, we would certainly return and I would recommend anyone to visit as soon as they can.

We spent four nights in a three-bedroom lodge here over the New Year 2013/14 period. The setting is perfect: fabulous and diverse walks from your doorstep, nice little local town with a good coffee shop and few nice pubs, and lodges that are unique and luxurious.

We had a few issues with heating and hot water but the on-site conceirge was very helpful, and the follow-up Customer Service could not have been more efficient. Natural Retreats are clearly setting themselves up as a luxury company that offers the personal touch, and they are doing a great job. Many companies over-promise and under-deliver at this level but the caring ethos is genuine, and they deserve to do well.

Accommodation-wise these glass fronted modern lodges are hard to beat. Each one has a large open plan and super-social living space with flatscreen TV and log burning fire, and lots of lovely little touches like snuggly wool blankets and comfy modern furniture in natural colours tones.

This was an one-off trip for us as we usually do not travel at this peak time of year but we would certainly hope to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in Lodge 7 which is right at the edge of the site and therefore not overlooked by other visitors

Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us and we certainly hope that your new years celebrations with us were not hampered at all by the boiler issue we experienced. We would like to assure you that this issue has been rectified and we hope that we can welcome you back either to the Yorkshire Dales or to one of our other locations at another time. I have stayed with Natural retreats twice in Trewhiddle in Cornwall and once in Wales and was excited to stay in Yorkshire with some friends as had raved about about Natural Retreats to them. The site is stunning as you drive in with great views over the surrounding countryside. The villa was ready for us and was lovely and warm. It was smaller than I envisaged and this was echoed by the rest of the party. It was clean and the bedrooms all had en suite shower rooms but I didn't realise that all rooms were all on one level so was very conscious that the pitter patter of my two dogs paws on the wooden flooring in the early mornings could have been annoying but my friends were very understanding. The massive windows were amazing and gave great views across the site but the windows would have benefitted from a clean. The kitchen was small and lacking in areas to prepare good and the fridge was small as others have said. Also the seating area just about coped with 5 adults and had there been 6 of us then we would have struggled to seat us all. Wood burner was lovely and plenty of wood available so was cozy on the cold afternoons and evenings. I was surprised to be charged for my dogs and this is a first for me from natural retreats as they have never done so before. Also this was the smallest welcome hamper with a tiny packet of coffee but the tea and sugar jars were full and it was nice to not have to take shower gels, washing up liquids and such like. In summary we had a great time and would come back but out of all the sites I've visited I would rate this one lowest out of all of them. We had no issues with wi Fi, loved the surrounding walks, enjoyed a trip to Richmond. We were welcomed by the onsite team and then were left to it which was fine. All in all we had a great time .

Room Tip: Don't bother with premium lodges all are good. If you have 6 adults make sure there is adequate seating.

Many thanks for taking the time to review the lodges in Yorkshire. It is so nice to hear that you have enjoyed stays at so many of our retreats. There is seating for 6 people in the living area made up of 5 seats on the sofa and one futon. We will however keep your feedback in mind for the next time we replace the furniture. We do hope that you had a great time and we will see you again soon at one of our other locations. Please do contact our concierge team for preferential rates as a returning guest.

We stayed here for three nights and had a lovely relaxing time. We stayed in residence 14 which has three bedrooms with a house bathroom (with shower over the bath) and an en suite off the main bedroom (massive walk in shower).

The kitchen and lounge area are well decorated and stocked with everything you need apart from a wooden spoon!

The log burning stove is a nice touch and if you stay for longer there's a washing machine.

The lodge is very quiet and we enjoyed watching the rabbits and pheasants.

The access is via a tarmac drive and whilst some lodges share parking they are all close by. Lodge 14 has it's own parking but you have a climb up stone steps so you may want to avoid if you have mobility difficulties.

We had a super time and would definitely return.

The lodges are very well equipped , we had a 3 bedroom all en suite lodge with lovely view out over the estate. All fittings are modern light and airy and have everything you need to enjoy your time away from home.
The welcome hamper is a lovely extra coming with some great local produce (web bought the additional £7 pack of local sausages and bacon definitely worth it)
Nicely located just outside of Richmond with easy access to Yorkshire dales as well as harrogate ripon and York. I would definitely visit again or stay in one of the other natural retreats
