We stayed in 14 B&B's and lodges, each for one night, during our Coast to Coast walk in autumn 2009. Winner was the Keld Lodge. At the bottom was Pottergate in Richmond. Is it fair to rank a place on the basis of one night? Perhaps not, but first impressions sometimes mean a lot.
Streonshalh B&B ranks number 4 out of our 14 places, really very good. Kevin and Debbie were extremely helpful, pleasant, and delightful hosts. Our first room, a twin en suite, was quite nice and comfortable. Then I had to move to a single, and it was incredibly tiny, almost claustrophobic. Fortunately, I spent only one extra night there. The Streonshalh is a two- or three-block walk from the village of Robin Hood's Bay, good because we were out of the hustle and tourist-loaded streets. Kevin and Debbie did my laundry and charged only a small amount. That was above and beyond the required. All in all, a perfect place to end a long and tiring 192-mile walk.

We stayed for two nights. Very homely and welcoming atmosphere, the owners know everything you need to know about the area, including where to get the best kippers, blackpudding and taxis! A lovely, short walk down the hill to get to the sea, shops and restaurants. The room was clean and modern and had a great view of the bay. Would definitely go back.

We stayed for 2 nights after getting lucky with a late booking. We arrived earlier than we predicted but Kevin greeted us warmly - and took us up to our sea view room. It was very cosy and nicely decorated with all amenities such as a hairdryer, mini fridge, a selection of hot drinks, bottled water and wine glasses available to us. The location is set at the top of the Bay - in and amongst pubs, a bistro and the general store (cashback-yeah!) We struck lucky on the parking and managed to park on the street both days - the walk down to the beach was pleasant and exercise inducing on the way back! The breakfast is very tasty - local produce used - and sets you up for the day. We thoroughly appreciated the choice of cereals and jams and enjoyed the fresh fruit each morning. Thank you for a chilled out stay.

Myself and a friend stayed here after cycling the "off road" coast to coast route. Even with us being covered in dirt we were greeted with a very friendly welcome. The twin room was spotless and well presented.

The cooked breakfast is just superb, with vegetarians also being excellantly catered for and the selection of homemade jams and fresh fruit on offer gave a great start to the day.

Nothing appeared too much trouble for Kev and Debbie, who gave great advice on where to eat and drink locally and ensured that the stay was pleasent.

They also accept credit and debit cards which is a great benefit if like me, you forgot to stop at the cash point en route!

I would strongly recommend this B&B to anybody wanting to stay in Robin Hoods Bay and will definately stay here again if ever im in the area!.

My partner Rosie & I visited the Streonshalh for 2 nights & wanted to stay more it was that warm & welcoming!
Both Kevin & Debbie went that little bit further than i think many other hotel/B&B's would by being so kind & attentive to us both.
A clean, modern, homely room was further excelled by the quality of the ensuite, very modern & gave me idea's for my own home I can tell you!
even though we were at the top of the house the room was cool & inviting considering the 28degree heatwave just feet away otside the window, the bottles of cold water were most appreciated also, how do you do it Kevin???
The breakfast was just that bit more than you'd expect from a B&B also with fruit to start, & I'm not a fruit person, which was excellent, fresh & juicy.
Followed by cereal, orange juice, tea or coffee(pay attention this time Kevin ha ha...), toast & a large traditional full english breakfast which you could add to or take from as you liked. Now I have a good appetite, but this nearly beat me i can tell you!
Kevin was at the time just recovering from a back operation but would normally carry your bags to your room but we gave him best this time, not next Kevein ha ha ha...
All in all an exceptional stay with so friendly, going the extra mile hosts & you'll see us again sometime soon ok! Oh & he's now motorcyclist friendly/aware eh Kevin?
