“Amazing Accomodation and Bistro”
Reviewed 13 September 2012

We stayed at the Wayfarer for two nights from Monday 10th of September to Wednesday 12th of September 2012. We arrived about half an hour before 2pm (check in time) On arrival I was greeted by Lucy although we were early she was happy to book us in, she then took me up to my room and showed me around. I recieved my Key and was good to go I then said we travelled by car and she gave us a parking badge that could be used at either of the car parks (one across from the Grosvenor Hotel or One across from the Victoria Hotel).

We were given room 3 which wasa double room with ensuite and a balcony situated to the front of the building above the Bistro and facing the main road. Very comfortable bed with a chocolate on the pillows, the best shower I have ever had, Toiletries included Shower Gel, Shampoo and Conditioner and also soap. On the Monday night we could not eat at the Bistro has it was closed so we ate down the road.

Tuesday Morning breakfast is served between 8.30am to 9.00am recieved a warm welcome from the Chef and also from Chris we sat next to the window so we could watch the world go by. Breakfast was Fresh squeezed Orange Juice along with a variety of breakfast cereal, fresh fruit salad and a selection of Yoghurt. There is then the cooked full english, Makeral and smoked Salmon. Chris took our order whilst i was having my Cereal two full english please he fetched our tea in teapot along with hotwater, Coffee came in a cafetiere and we also got toast. When the breakfast came it was piping hot and cooked beautifully.

On Tuesday night we ate in the Bistro this meal has to be in the top five best meals we ever had.

Starters:- Queen Scallops and Crab, Tiger Prawns with Chilli
Mains:- Monkfish and prawns with samphire and chilli along with creamed leeks, carrots, broccoli and new potatoes.
Dessert:- Cheese Board with a vast selection of crackers (this is enough for two) Chocolate Brownie and Icecream.

Service was flawless and nothing was too much trouble.

One thing to point out we were on the front with the Bistro underneath we sleep with our window open but we can safetly say that you could not hear any noise coming from the Bistro or the road so do not let this put you off.

fantastic stay, clean, friendly and great food, we have actually stayed in 3 rooms over 2 different visits as the room with the sea view was only available one night. All were lovely and clean. My favourite room is the large room with the sofa, very quite peaceful location. One of our trips ended up been double booked on one of the rooms, we chose to change the date of our stay and the owners well and truly made up for it.

We ate here last Saturday night. The service and atmosphere were fantastic and the food was very high quality. I would go as far to say that the scallop starter I had was the best starter I've ever had. The homemade vege lasagne with proper chips followed by strawberry and blueberry cheesecake for dessert were equally good.
My wife also greatly enjoyed her french onion soup and goat's cheese filo tart. The cost was reasonable, particularly considering the quality of the food. There are also plenty of specials, mainly seafood based, to choose from in addition to the normal menu. Only slight downside was the lack of quality beer available (only Carlsberg and Tetley on draught) and generic, uninspiring choice of bottled beer. I realise this is a bistro and the default drink will be wine, but even so. This gripe though is massively outweighed by the fact that the other elements food, service and atmosphere blew us away. A great bistro in a beautiful village.

We've stayed here twice , two years apart, both times were excellent. The rooms are lovely sheets very high thread count, very soft. Bathroom and toiltries very nice, even loo roll not cheap stuff. Now. The FOOD, superb !!!!!! Some might think its pricey but you have to remember it is a restaurant not pub grub. Hosts very friendly but not OTT. They have everything down to a tee. Thank you for our lovely stay, we will be back again and will not leave it two years this time.

Room Tip: Stay for dinner. Its a treat.

We made a last minute booking, staying here one Friday night at the start of August on the recommendation of our first choice, which was fully booked. It was an excellent place to stay, ideally located at the top of Robin Hood's Bay. Our room was very small but had a lovely little balcony looking out towards the sea. We didn't eat at the bistro as we wanted to explore the village, but in fact we would probably have had to book as it was very busy. It's an easy walk though into the village. Breakfast was great and having wifi access useful. We were given a parking permit to park nearby. Would definitely recommend.

Our first visit to this part of the country and we were not disappointed with wonderful views and walks. However, this was completed by our 7 night stay at the Wayfarer Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, and the restaurant was superb. We pre-booked for 4 nights and the meals were excellent, the staff very friendly and the hosts, Lucy and Chris, were always prepared to go the extra mile to make our stay even better! A wonderful holiday, now comes the diet!

Room Tip: If staying for more than a couple of nights ask for room 4, it's bigger with a sofa and armchair...

This was our second meal at the Wayfarer (we didn't stay there) and yet again we left very satisfied. The portions are well sized, and i would recommend the fillet steak to anyone. What impressed me as well, was the service of the staff, which was first class. We booked a few weeks in advance and asked for a nice table, and we got the one in the window to the left as you walk in. When we are next in Robin Hoods bay (possibly October) we will look forward to visiting again.
