Stayed for one night during june 2010 for the final night on my coast to coast walk. This accomodation was without doubt far better in every repect than any of the previous establishments I stayed in. I could not criticise anything.

The hosts Chris and Lucy were extremely helpful and caring in ensuring my stay was memorable in every way The spotless room was furnished to a high quality including linen, accessories, toiletries and the best feature of all was a powerful double drenching shower which totally refreshed and invigorated you after a long days walking.

The meal I chose at night was the fresh scollops and tiger king prawns and was cooked and presented with equal perfection.

I wont hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone

The Staff and accomadation were warm and welcoming, well worth the journey.
We will for sure stop here again if we are visiting this area as our stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

If you are stopping here or in the area the Bistro is a MUST to visit as the food is exceptional and the portions are spot on, I am a big eater and left with no room to spare!!

Fantastic.

We stayed at this guesthouse recently on our first trip to Robin Hoods bay.

The guesthouse owners were very nice, the house seemed clean, well located and was quite reasonable, however i'm not altogether sure why so many people have given it 5* as the things this B&B is good at should be expected.

We stayed in room 6 which we were told on numerous occasions was the smallest room in the house. It was nice and clean, but the shower played up a bit and the basin was about the same size as your standard breakfast bowl.

The food was great. We had an evening meal which we thought was very good and well priced.

I didn't think Robin Hoods bay itself had too much there to entertain, however the beaches/ walks a 100m either side were nice and quiet.

After reading the reviews on here, I booked this place for two nights as part of my and my wife's honeymoon. The couple who own the Wayfarer could not have been friendlier and each morning asked us if we'd had a good night's sleep (which we did).

The entire place is absolutely spotless and is tastefully decorated. We had Room 3 which had a great balcony on which to sit and enjoy the views. We also ate both nights in the Bistro (advance booked is highly recommended as it is very popular). The quality of food is excellent and the prices fairly reflect this. My 10oz fillet steak was (I think) £18, which included fries, choice of sauce and vegetables. It was a superb steak and perfectly cooked. Service was faultless and the staff (which also include the owners) were friendly and helpful.

The Breakfasts are a real treat. I had a Full English on the first morning but on the second asked for a bacon sandwich with egg (you can order any of the ingredients of a breakfast served how you want). The sandwich arrived with lovely thick bacon and a perfectly fried egg on top. Because squashing the top of the lightly toasted sandwich would have popped the yolk, the chef had cut a perfect circle in the top to allow the yolk to show through, with the disc of toast balanced on top to serve. This was typical of the care and attention of the chef and it worked a treat. The only downside to the food was the black pudding was light on the pig’s blood and was a bit wishy-washy. I'm from Lancashire and this wasn't a patch on a good Bury black pudding.

The black pudding being a bit weak is the only negative thing I can think of to say about the Wayfarer. Which says a lot, I think. We wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else in RHB.

Highly recommended.

The Wayfarer B&B is a lovely place to stay when exploring Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby & beyond. The rooms a are modern, clean & lovely, the owners are fantastically friendly & as busy parents who had come for a getaway, it was lovely to be put into a room with a balcony. What really makes the B&B is the amazing bistro though. Having read the reviews on here, we booked Sunday & Tuesday (we would have booked Monday too if it was open!) The steak is probably the best we have ever tasted. Absolute heaven!

Stayed here at the end of the Coast to Coast walk - owners could not have been more helpful when booking and were totally unfazed by our arriving in scruffy walking gear half-cut from celebrations in the Bay Hotel. The two rooms we saw were stunning - I was in the twin which was an adequate size with a small but perfect en suite with a great shower - the third of our party was in a double next door - similar decor and a slightly larger bathroom. Both rooms done out beautifully with cream/brown colours, leather headboards, tasteful prints, etc. Where The Wayfarer scores 11 out of 10 is the food - we all had three courses and everything we had was 10/10 (if not better). The only thing I've not scored as a 5 above is location - only because the one thing that could possibly improve this place is if it was in the garden of the nearby Victoria Hotel, overlooking the bay, or if it were at the bottom of the hill, next to the beach. That said, RHB is a very pretty place and here you are only 5 minutes walk from the beach (maybe 10 mins walk back up the hill). Everything the owners have in there control is superb.

Decided to book a table for a special meal here at this Bistro because of the high ratings on here - we weren't disappointed!
The Bistro was spacious -it felt cozy, but the candlelit tables were far enough apart to be private. Tastefully decorated / furnished with chunky wooden tables in a contempory fashion. An informal relaxed atmosphere - we were greeted straight away by the friendly waiter / (owner?) who made us feel very welcome and was very attentive all evening.
The starter of king scallops & prawns were fresh and delicious. I had Halibut with creamy Crab sauce which was amazing. Plenty of crab which is a real treat! My partner had steak who said it was the best steak he'd ever had - cooked to perfection.

Price wise: Newly baked bread on arrival, Starter of King Scallops & King Prawns in garlic butter was £8, Our main courses were £18 & £16 - The fish was on the specials board. The menu started from £4 for starters and £9 - £18 for a main, homemade deserts were £4.50. So make your own mind up. All portions were generous and good quality ingredients. It was more than we'd normally pay for a meal, but it was a special occasion, and I do think you get what you pay for - and in this case it was most definitely worth it.
It's at the top of the hill on the main road down (- not in the little streets as we were expecting!) Thanks to Trip Advisor we found this little gem and had a wonderful meal!
