“could have been better”

Stayed in Robin Hoods Bay for three nights last week, and had the hotel recommended to us, despite the fact that we had several drinks in their bar, the staff informed me that I could not be given the pass word for the wifi because I was not a resident, I found this very annoying and petty in this day and age where nearly everywhere you visit these days has complimentary wifi.
I would suggest that you perhaps consider letting all your customers have access and not just the ones staying with you.

Stayed here for one night at end of C to C walk. Stayed in Room 8 with its glorious views over the bay. The hotel must be the best located hotel in the area. Very spacious clean room with shower over bath. The hotel has a garden also overlooking the bay. Lovely to sit there and have a drink after a long walk.

The service was very good. However, two things let hotel down. Firstly a very average bar area. Secondly a disappointing breakfast. Dry bacon, flavourless eggs weak coffee.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room with view over the bay.

This hotel is beautifully situated in Robin Hoods Bay. We stayed for just one night and were given access to the room a little bit early which was great. Room 3 has a 4 poster bed and lovely views over the bay and village. Staff were great and so helpful. The only niggle was that they appeared to be so busy that the reception area tends to get a bit neglected so it can be hard to find help when needed.

Room Tip: Room 3 has lovely views and a 4 poster bed

just returned home from our holiday at the Victoria and once again this hotel never fails to impress.this was our 3rd year running at this hotel and we always choose room 8 due to its wonderful views.it is also a large and comfortable room with ample storage space.the staff here are perfect, bending over backwards to help you and are obviously very dedicated to their work to ensure you have the perfect stay. yet again I cannot fault the Victoria and will be back again next year.

We walked coast to coast and got married en route and chose to have our reception here at the Victoria hotel. We had a brilliant time! The hotel was mainly booked with our friends and family. Andrew and his staff ensured we had a perfect weekend. The food and service were excellent and the rooms were very clean and comfortable! The place has a real character and an air of class. We are sure we will be returning here many times.

... with my other restaurant review posted today, ( NB This review is only for the food we ate in the bar area today, not of the Hotel as a whole) ...

We ate in the bar area today. My husband and I opted for the Whitby Scampi and chips while our little one asked for sausage.
The chips looked and tasted as though they had been cooked several times, wish I'd taken photos. The Scampi was edible but only just, it was very darkly cooked. All in all not an enjoyable meal... I certainly didn't force our little one to eat all her food.

We actually ate a lot of ours but only because we were famished.

At times like this I hate being British because of course when asked if it was alright I answered, ( after a long hesitation), yes.
It wasn't... it really wasn't. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
The guy serving at the bar was not friendly nor accommodating which was off putting to say the least.
A very disappointing dining experience.
