“Outstanding Hotel”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Well what can I say from the day we arrived until the day we left we felt so welcome and every day was outstanding.
On the day we arrived we were shown to our room which was beautiful and the décor was very, very nice.
The room was spotless not one spec of dust in sight :-)
From breakfast to the evening meal the service was just 100 % the owners of this hotel have employed really good and caring staff.
We had booked into the Wayfarer Bistro just up the road from the Victoria hotel on the second night of our stay when we arrived at the Wayfarer the gentlemen had booked us in on the wrong night so we could not eat there as they were fully booked so we went back to the Victoria hotel hoping they could fit us in when we arrived they were very busy but a lady called Katie said it was no problem she would fit us in it was no trouble and once again the service and the friendliness of the staff was outstanding.
To some this hotel up in a nutshell this place is AWESOME you must go and have a stay at this hotel.
We stayed in room 8 which had a beautiful view over the bay and the moors.
We will definitely be back and this time with our 2 children and have been advised room 4 would be perfect for us.
We cannot wait for our next stay at the Victoria hotel.

Room Tip: Room 8 is very nice and has great views over the bay and the moors.

The Victoria was booked by the Coast to Coast walking trip organisers. At the end of 192 miles it is nice to have a warm welcome and a genuine concern as to whether all our luggage was accounted for.No delay and we were straight up to our rooms which were most comfortable and some had the most amazing views down into our final destination: Robin Hoods Bay. The showers were hot, the rooms were clean and we were booked for Dinner. After dropping the St Bees pebble in the North Sea and the customary photos had been taken, it was time to climb back up 'that' hill. The Dinner menu was varied but no surprise that there was alot of fresh fish. The starter of Sea Food Chowder was quite delicious and followed by fresh plaice on a bed of seaweed . We shared an Eton Mess. Our table by choice was in the marquee at the side of the hotel and we were able to see night drawing in over Ravenscar. The compressor in the bar overnight was a little disturbing but no real bother. Breakfast was excellent with a huge bowl of porridge and smoked mackeral with two poached eggs. Beautiful Toast and ever so friendly service from the staff. Parking at the back of the hotel was a bit of a lottery but I suspect that not all the parked cars belonged to hotel guests. As we left the gardener was sorting out a more comfortable chair for a visitor with a back problem - it said kev on his petrol can and he seemed to be caring of the garden and the clients. We had a great experience - I am sorry others appear to not have been so lucky.

Room Tip: Try not to get above the bar unless they turn off the compressor !

A brilliant wedding and stay in a superb hotel. Andrew and his staff created the perfect wedding for my daughter and son in law, They both said it was the best day of their lives. Nothing was too much trouble with excellent service from all Andrews staff from night porter, bar and restaurant staff, cleaners and the food was just the best thanks to a superb chef. The hotel has one of the best views in the country, best dressed bedrooms I have ever stayed in thanks to Andrews wife's attention to detail and to be honest you could not get a better hotel owner. Well done Andrew and a big big thank you to your staff. Our wedding guests who visited from all over the UK have remarked that their stay at the Victoria Hotel was excellent and would consider it a holiday destination in the future.

Room Tip: Having rented all the rooms during the wedding all the rooms were different and excellent in their d...

We walked in for a full English, were told where we could sit, we would have liked to choose ourselves but we were sat right at the door entrance. The waitress did not bring us milk for our coffee we had to ask, no napkins and no condiments. It seemed like because we were not staying at the hotel that our money was not good enough. The breakfast was average not worth the £15 (£7.50) each we paid. I would advise people to go past this hotel and find a nicer cheaper more friendlier establishment further down the bank.

Hello,
Sorry you couldn,t sit where you wanted but our restaurant is reserved for guests staying in the Hotel who have paid for accomodation. We offer other breakfast guests to either sit in the bar area or outside overlooking the bay if the weather is fine.Regarding the price of the breakfast I feel that the price of a nine item breakfast plus tea or coffee is very reasonable for a Hotel.
Thankyou for choosing to review your breakfast experience.

Visited this hotel for lunch on the way to the beach after parking up. We didn't realise there were other cafés further down. First of all asked if they were able to do the full english breakfast 2 minutes after 12. Straight "no" chef won't! There was nothing on the menu for children other than meals, when we mentioned children's portions of sandwiches we were told "we don't do half portions because of all the bread we would waste!" Really, just cut a piece in half! The sandwiches were ok, on bread boards which I think is a bit silly, but that is just a personal preference. And finally came to pay and was told we couldn't split the bill and pay separately. My sister and I told the barman straight that yes we can and low behold it worked. All in all a rather frustrating experience. Wouldn't recommend.

Thanyou for choosing to review us.Firstly this is not the sort of customer service that we deliver at The Victoria. Please look at the majority of our reviews.I welcome your feedback and would have welcomed them even more at the time.Since then the person who you spoke too who was on trial at the time is no longer with us.
Sorry for your experience however I am sure if you visit again things will be different.
Many Thanks

Whilst visiting Robin Hoods Bay yesterday we decided to go into the Victoria Hotel for a meal. On entering the bar it was clear there was a wedding reception happening in one of the function rooms which made the bar very busy. We waited in a queue at the bar to order our drinks, but it was very close the entrance and therefore very busy. There were staff coming at you from all angles so you were constantly trying to move out of the way for them. Finally managed to get a drink and we sat down at the table to view the menus. We were really excited at the wide range of food on offer and the four of us couldn't decide what to have as there were so many nice things. We finally decided and queued again at the bar to order food. When it was our turn to be served i asked the barman if the meal i wanted off the specials board came with veg. He was very rude in his response answering ' well i don't know, i don't work in the kitchen!!' .. this obviously upset me and my response was along the lines of ' well would you like to ring the kitchen and find out!' ... he didn't .. he just said that it was clear and that the food on the specials board came with what was written on there and that it doesn't mention veg. The manner in which he spoke to me was disgraceful and made me feel like it was my fault that I didn't know. When i said that his attitude wasn't great he suggested we could go elsewhere for our food. This was in a half joking way but he had already overstepped the mark so this was inappropriate. I asked him if he went to Saddam Hussains school of customer service, at this point he realised how rude he had been and tried again to lighten the mood with a half hearted apology. After again telling him how shocked i was at his level of service i ordered my food with a side of veg, sat down and waited for my friends to order. The food arrived, and it actually came with veg so then i had an extra portion of veg. I called the barman over to advise him for future reference the food on the specials board came with veg. He responded by telling me he had said he was sorry. Anyway, the waiter and waitress were a breath of fresh air, giving great customer service. I enjoyed my meal but my friends said theirs was average at best with very little taste. What a shame! The menu was great, the waiting staff were great but it was hugely let down by the barman and the quality of food. There are much nicer places to eat in Robin Hood's Bay ... go seek them out ...

Thankyou for choosing to review us .Firstly I am sorry about the behaviour and attitude of a member of my team, this is certainly not how this Hotel operates nor trains staff.Since this incident the member of staff that was on a trial with us is no longer.Rest assured being a small family business in a tourist area, customer service is top of our agenda.
Hope to see you return to The Victoria for some good old Yorkshire hospitality.
Thanks for choosing to review us.

We stopped at Victoria hotel on the 21st July fior 2 nights and had a fab time. This is our second time. We stayed in room 16 which had a king size bed and a slipper bath, very romantic. The hotel is so full of character, and a joy to stay in. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of food to choose from, cooked to perfection. The staff at the hotel were a credit to the hotel, very polite and couldn't do enough for you.
The hotel is at the top of the bay, and you have to go down a steep to get to the lovely beach. Plenty of quaint shops and tea rooms and 3 pubs!! The Dolphin has live music and we had a nice meal there too.
We definitely will return to Robin Hoods Bay and would stop again at Victoria Hotel.
