We stopped off for lunch after walking down the coastal path from Whitby on August Bank Holiday Monday. The place was busy but we managed to get a table in the upstairs bar which has very good sea views. The beers were good and staff very helpful. The food was typical pub grub but well prepared and reasonably priced for what is a very tourist orientated location. One aspect I liked was that the door to the kitchen was open and in full view of where we sat. I always applaud any place which does this as it means they have nothing to hide in the kitchen in terms of cleaniness etc. Will certainly call in again when next in the area.
