Nothing pretentious about this pub, just honest food, good beer and a homely atmosphere. Dog friendly and happy to have children in the upstairs dining room. The fish pie was as good as we had eaten outside of a restaurant and still better than some.

Reception
Warm jovial chap behind the bar. He was happy to chat and pass the time of day. A lady who worked in the kitchen popped up into the bar and she was also very friendly & chatty. Doggies welcome.

Food & Menu
Good choice of home cooked food using fresh produce. There was everything from scampi & fish to curry & rice. We settled on Mutton Curry & Pilau Rice with a side dish of home made chips. It was spicy and authentic. Lovely!

Dessert
Chocolate fudge cake and custard was yummy. Husband reports the apple pie was delicious.

Including 2 Theakston's Old Peculiar and a small Merlot £42.50.

Entertainment
We were told that there is live music a couple of nights a weeks including Jazz, Blues & Folk.

Summary
Well worth a visit for good wholesome freshly prepared and cooked food. Bonus would be to visit when the live music is on.

The beer was very good and it was only 10 paces away from our accommodation. Who could ask for more.

It's small inside and going back up the hill after you've had a few pints might be a bit tricky, but a visit to Ye Dolphin is still worth it. The Fish Pie is outstanding and they sell Cameron's Strong Arm and Deuchars IPA - sound beer. Service was friendly and quick.

Four of us turned up for food and drink on aMonday evening in March. Ate in the upstairs dining room which was warm and inviting. Did have to wait almost an hour for the food but to be fair they had said there would be a 'bit of a wait'!!!! However, we all had a different dish and the food was very good and piping hot so well worth the wait.
