“Disgusting fish, dirty cafe and expensive - steer clear”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

A large group of us ate in the cafe here and I can safely say this is the worst haddock I have ever eaten. It was not fresh, it tasted nasty and somehow (I have no idea how) it was chewy. I left most of it. Other people ate it, but said it was only edible with the batter - they were being generous.

They charged more for the meal than local restaurants, that looked much nicer and were certainly much cleaner. (Unfortunately, although we tried a couple, they were not serving fish and chips and some of our party had set their minds on that).

In addition the cafe smelt none too clean - I very much regret not going with my first instinct and leaving immediately.

One of the few places that said they couldn't provide tap water - no idea why.

The guy who served us was nice, but I would never go here again and strongly suggest anyone even considering it goes elsewhere.

“Nice fish and chips but needs a good scrub”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

Was recommended by a friend as the best fish and chips in the world / they were very good but the floor was grubby, window you could see dead wasps and it was my 5 year old that noticed them - would have been excellent but needs a good daily scrub!

Also needs to do kids meals.

“A Little 'Gem' Of A Place !”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Visited Robin Hood Bay 14.08.14, had a walk about, up and down and through 'Ginnels, side streets, exploring the secrets of the side streets.
Came across a view point over the beach and the views of the cliffs on the right and left are fantastic, we thought, the next time we are in Robin Hoods Bay we will grab some fish and chips from the side street and eat in a peaceful, sunny place, it seems not many know of this beauty spot, it seems just about everyone who gets chips eats on the banking leading to the beach or in the gutter.
On our way back from Scarborough 15.08.14, very busy place and no chance to find a car park to stop and have something to eat, so we decided to head back to the Bay, we bought 2 Fish and Chips, with Mushy Peas, the children had Chips with Beans and the other two had Chips n Curry. We took ourselves to the spot and had our Chips n Fish.
Fantastic food, wholesome Fish, Chips cooked Perfectly, the staff friendly and the whole event, the place, the food, the day, the weather, the view, best part of the day by far.
I will make sure next time we visit Robin Hood's Bay we will do the same, and eat in the same spot.
The total cost to feed 2 adults, 4 children, £22.50, best deal for ages.
