I use to live in this cottage with my children and we loved being in the bay their aunty and cousin lived just down the road and nana and grandad at the top of bay bank we use to keep very fit walking up to school every morning pushing my youngest in her pushchair have very fond memories of our time at holmedale fully recommend it x
Me and my 2 adult sons stayed for 3 days in Holmedale cottage in Robin Hood's Bay and had a lovely short break. We were blessed with glorious weather abd thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. The outside seating are overlooks Kings Beck which is very picturesque.
Also, great value for money.
We arrived back home this weekend from a weeks stay at holmedale, the cottage is very pretty with a nice outside patio area, upstairs are 3 lovely bedrooms with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom with good overhead shower. We were however after reading the good reviews to be quite disappointed to find the living room did not meet our expectations, it appeared tidy but not very clean, on further inspection we found an empty peanut packet behind the pouffe which was up against the window, sunglasses, sweet wrappers and earphones under the sofa cushions, the skirting and panels also appeared dusty and dirty. I'm not a snob by any means and I don't spend hours inspecting holiday rentals but I did feel the need to spend the next hour cleaning the room until I was happy that it was acceptable for my 18 month old grand daughter to play on the floor and touch the surfaces. We had a couple of issues with a couple of kids who live at a house further down the bolts who continually stuck their faces to the window staring in until I told them it was rude to stare & also their little black dog who uses the bolts path as a toilet, not nice when you are manoeuvring a pushchair. The small kitchenette was ok and useful but lacked storage as every cupboard was full of anything apart from cups, plates and cutlery which would have been useful given that it was there for convenience rather than going across to the kitchen outside just to make a snack or cuppa. This cottage is lovely, it's comfortable but lacks organisation, a good clear out of cupboards and a few basic crockery/cutlery items in the kitchenette wouldn't go a miss, maybe a cafe net at the front window and a good clean and clear out downstairs. I'm sorry if this review upsets Julian the owner, but I speak as I find and would have no hesitation in recommending this property if the issues were addressed
I just wanted to see we had a fantastic stay at Holmedale cottage. Superb location to help us do everything we set out to do on our short break. Would have no reservation about recommending to anybody and the communication from yourself and support team was first rate. We loved it.
Many thanks for a great week
The cottage was situated in the heart of Robin Hoods Bay and within a couple of minutes walk to the beach, pubs and shops. It was lovely to be able to walk without driving most days but we did venture into nearby Whitby and Staithes which were not far at all. The weather was amazing which helped to make the week more special. Julian had no problem accepting a well behaved dog whom by the end of the week probably walked three times as many miles as we did, she loved the freedom and beach everyday.
We had a fantastic weekend in Robin Hoods Bay in this lovely cottage (our best yet) perfect location. Lovely cottage with everything you could possibly need!! Beautiful bedrooms, very child friendly. Also we left our daughters brand new iPad behind and the owner very kindly posted it back to us special delivery which we are thrilled about so thank you very much :-) a donation has already been made to RNLI!
Just had one of our best holidays ever staying at Holmedale Cottage in Robin Hood's Bay. This cottage is quirky, cosy and full of character - with the comfiest beds in the UK!! Whatever you need Justin, the owner, has pre-empted! The neighbours were very friendly too. Robin Hood's Bay is idyllic, with a beautiful beach and windy lanes full of old world charm. We will definitely return to the Bay and will certainly stay at Holmedale Cottage as it was a real home from home.
