We stayed here 2 weeks ago. From the moment we walked through the door we were welcomed with massive smiles by all! Danny who was on reception advised on directions and suggestions for activities during the day. Marius was also of great help showing us around the hotel. Thanks again for the luxurious stay and enjoyable time...

Room Tip: Leave the aircon on when you leave the hotel so the room is cool on your return as it can be noisy w...

Spent one night at this hotel on a Secret Escapes deal. We were in Punchon, a beautiful room with a large bathroom. It is a corner room, one window overlooked the gardens & the other the busy A19, however we didn`t hear any road noise. The only possible downside was the a/c unit is in the middle of the ceiling & when turned on, in bed it was very cold, & when turned off the room was very warm due to the unusually hot weather we are having at present. The evening meal was probably one of the best we have ever had, the service was incredible, the food whilst not cheap was gorgeous & the dining room beautiful. The breakfast was served in a smaller room upstairs & a mention must be made of Marianna who was delightful as was the food. If you want a great place to spend a special occasion, then this is it.

We have just returned from a one night stay in this hotel which can only be described as delightful.

The hotel and rooms are furbished to a high standard and are very comfortable.

The staff are exceptional and although I don't usually mention them by name, I must on this occasion mention Marius and his wife Marianna and her brother (Whose name I did not unfortunately discover) as being very efficient and striking just the right note of friendliness without being obtrusive.

It is nice to meet staff who enjoy and take a pride in their work. Great ambassadors for the Hotel.

I would also like to thank the Chef who produced a fantastic meal.

If you've read any of my reviews before you will know that I try to be very objective with my comments so you will read into this that we were very impressed.

This is one of those establishments to which we will definitely return.

we started in edinburgh working our way back home and this was the best part of the trip - the room was unbelievable and even had an upstairs separate bathroom area - the food however was the best bit - my wifes gluten free diet was superbly taken care of and the overall menu was just fantastic - if you get a chance indulge yourself you wont be disappointed - yarm is nearby and worth a visit and there are racecourses nearby so you could combine your trip

Room Tip: try the gertrude bell you can hear a little traffic noise but its not bad at all and didnt affect me

The Cleveland Tontine was always a family favourite and it has been lovingly refurbished retaining its individual quirkiness. It was the perfect venue to host our wedding dinner and put up our guests, we were made to feel completely at ease in a beautiful, stylish, unique environment. The staff were on hand at all times but you hardly noticed them, and when you did, they entered into the celebratory spirit of the day and it felt like they were sharing your excitement. Special thanks must go to Jeay, there incredible events coordinator who was calm and helpful from start to finish, listened to our requests and made the whole thing run so smoothly. The rooms are fantastic, the food is impeccable- all our guests commented on the high quality of ingredients and taste. We can't recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: We can thoroughly recommend the Gertrude Bell as a honeymoon suite

I have just spent a couple of nights at the Cleveland Tontine with my wife celebrating my birthday .We arrived on Monday 7th of July for a 2 night stay the hotel was first rate the staff were always willing to help you in anyway they could . We were shown around the hotel then taken to our room the room was very clean and tidy our bathroom was huge with a large roll top bath you could lie in the bath looking out over the hills a large walk in shower the bed was big enough for two with lots of room the meals were first rate with plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was enough to keep you going all day. It is close to local places of interest and a short drive to Northallerton. We will certainally think about stopping there again.

Room Tip: We were at the rear of the hotel where there was little noise but during the night there was no nois...

We booked the 2 night DB&B deal through Secret Escapes for a very special 10th wedding anniversay & we were not disapointed. From the moment we entered the hotel the staff were extremely welcoming & helpful. We were shown to the Geurture Bell room , which was stunning in size, decoration and style. However the suites position right next to the A19 was it's only very very minor blip. After the first night of 'disturbed' sleep, we took up the kind offer to switch to another room (a quieter room at the back of the hotel ! ) .I feel the need to add that the noise level of the Geurturde Bell was perfectly normal and as expected, but our need for sleep, since it was first 2 night break away from 2 young kids in several years was a treasured prize !!! All meals were of a fantastic standard & delicious and the service was just perfect, helpful but not over bearing. The only thing that didn't sit quite right was the background music in the restaurant, The Beach Boys didnt mix all that well against the lovely romatic 'ambience' the hotel has created !. Overall, it was a fabulous and memorable stay, thanks to the lovely attentive and considerate staff. Would love to return one day.
