What we thought we were getting and what we recieved are 2 completely different things.
AN ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE does NOT include drinks at Tan Hill even though we were paying over £800 for 3 days
Arrive and enjoy cream tea with scones and Christmas cake - no sign of anything to eat or drink when we arrived at 5pm
Start the evening with a glass of champagne and canapes followed by a 6 course dinner - we are offered 2 canapes each on a polystyrene plate and a glass of bubbly at 7.30 The 6 course meal was a complete disaster, watery broccolli and stilton soup (I'm still not convinced it hadnt burnt) followed 30 mins later by 1 tiny bruschetta with smoked salmon, there was NO choice or any sign of a menu. The main course we were given (cant say served) was luke warm roast beef, cold mash, and what was left of the carrots. The entertainment for the evening, which had set up, had to move his equipment so that ad hoc tables could be set up to put the shop bought gateaux out. The cheese board was very good but that only makes 5 courses which ever way you add it up.
The entertainment was good but didnt start until 11pm when the food finished - yes it took from 8pm to 11pm
seeing in the New Year with a bang with celebration fireworks at midnight - domestic fireworks that hadnt even been set up fizzed and popped at approx 00.10am by which time most of us had given up and gone to bed.

Happy New Year! …….Shake off the hangover with complimentary bloody-marys all around - not a sign of bloody marys and the breakfast was tasty but thrown on the plate, a passing comment that they hadnt any black pudding summed up the organisation of the management.
Late afternoon will bring English cream tea & mince pies - not a sign. Our lunch was from the very average bar menu and became more limited as time went on.

2 of the main beers ran out

Saturday - Come back and enjoy an evening three course meal followed by live entertainment at the bar. - again, it was the bar menu and by this time the pudding menu was diminished to a choice of 2

On arrival we had 1 towel in the bedroom, no waste bin and no milk on the tea tray. The bed was never made or the towel, milk etc replenished.

Very very disappointing experience. The staff were untidy in dress and manner and the management looked like rabbits caught in the headlights

Room Tip: Bring your own camper van or caravan and stay in the car park

Really liked this quirky inn in the middle of the Dales. Only stopped for a hot drink, but all was good. Friendly staff and a 'real' pub feel with a nice open fire. Would recommend for a drink on a stop off.

Been to this fantastic location on 6 occasions, but never stayed overnight before.
The staff are very chilled and friendly, almost too chilled!
Our evening was £135 per couple for bed, New Years Eve meal and breakfast. We stayed in a six bed bunk room, which was all that was available when we enquired. It was tight for space, but warm and dry.
The chilled-out demeanour caused a bit anxiety at evening meal time as some had finished before others were served. We were asked to collect our food from another room. When I asked for a little more turkey, after receiving only one slice, I was told 'no, because we have to be careful we've enough left'. One server, John, used his finger to hold the meat, and later, a slice of excellent tasting cheesecake steady whilst transferring it from the serving plate to mine. I mentioned this to Steve, the manager, who listened very politely, but didn't respond the following morning, when asked to consider a goodwill gesture at the time of complaint.
It's easy to criticise, and we did learn that a roof issue to the attached barn caused a change of location for the meal to the main rooms. This caused service delays.
Breakfast was ample and well tasting.
Of course entertainment NYE is vital. Whilst the solo acoustic guitarist was mainly good, it could have been better, obviously others may have found him fantastic.
Overall good, will definitely visit Tan Hill again, but probably not on NYE or stay overnight. Didn't meet my expectations 100%, maybe I set them too high.
Please no more fingers on food tho!!!!

A group of us visited for a New Years party. Friendly staff who cannot do enough for you, roaring open fire, cosy little place. Food was nice, good selection of drinks, entertainment was good, spectacular location. We stayed over and the room was exactly what we needed it for.... somewhere to put our head down for a few hours. Will definitely be going back. Get a visit in! :-)

We Visited the Tan Hill Pub between Xmas and new year 2015 and were pleasantly surprised. This is a little gem hidden away with fantastic views, perfect for dog walking. We went with my two teenage daughters and they were amazed at how cosy and welcoming this place was. The staff and owners accommodated us with food although the kitchen had just closed due to being unexpectedly busy. The chicken jalfrezi was the best we had ever had!! I recommend this place to anyone deciding whether to go, you won't be disappointed!
