“Excellent large house, well equipped and beautifully furnished”
Reviewed 30 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Amazing views from the house, easy to walk from the door along the Swaledale valley. Large house, well equipped, beautifully presented. Warm welcome from Catherine who is readily available if needed. All bedrooms and bathrooms very clean and spacious. Lovely warm duvets, comfortable beds, good quality linen and towels. Large dining room and very cosy lounge, well equipped kitchen with plenty of options for cooking! The Punch Bowl pub just up the road offers excellent food and very friendly service - highly recommend.

Reviewed 22 March 2017 for a stay in February 2017

This was our 3rd visit and we are now planning our 4th! We love the house - always clean, warm and cosy. The views from the house are beautiful. Great walks in the area and the local pub/restaurant serve great food! Can't wait for next year!

“A great retreat in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, at any time of year.”
Reviewed 9 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Hazel Brow is one of those rare houses that can accommodate larger parties in style and complete comfort, located in the heart of Swaledale. The rooms are tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished. Period furniture and fixtures and fittings as well as big comfy sofas. Uninterrupted views from the front door look over the stunning U shaped valley. A short walk takes you to the local pub and eatery.

The house was warm, a must during our January stay, and the welcome too. There are plenty of bathrooms, hot water, good cooking facilities, real fires, tv and a snug hideaway to read a book. In fact everything for a pampered time away. There's also garaging for the push bikes and parking. We will be returning!

“Family Christmas in Swaledale”
Reviewed 8 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

"We should have done this years ago" was what everyone said as our large, extended family departed our lovely family Christmas week at Hazel Brow. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the festivities and have some privacy when desired, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to choose from to suit the various members of the family. Cath, the owner, had decorated the house for Xmas with style and charm, so we were able to walk into a ready made setting, with fires lit and ready to enjoy ourselves, which we did. Swaledale was gorgeous, with plenty of walks from the door of the house, and far more nearby locations and attractions that we had time to see. Will certainly be doing this again, and would happily recommend Hazel Brow for such a gathering. Thanks Cath for your part in the best family Christmas we've had for many years.

Spent a lovely weekend at Hazel Brow House in a party of 13. The house is lovely, loads of space, great bedrooms for all, plenty of bathrooms and all the facilities needed to cook, dine and relax.
Cath was on hand to help with any problems.
Would definitely recommend.

“Relaxing trip away for 70th birthday”
Reviewed 30 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

My family and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Hazel Brow House for our Mothers/Grandmother's 70th Birthday. The pictures online look fabulous and we certainly weren't disappointed when we arrived!

It's difficult to find a rental property that can sleep 14 comfortably - but Hazel Brow fits the bill perfectly! The 8 well-appointed bedrooms we're beautifully styled - each with their own individual character. In fact, this can be applied to the entire house. The communal spaces were large yet cosy; Catherine provided ample firewood and the house was kept warm by both a combination of the fire, an AGA and the oil-fueled heating system (on all day on the ground floor and on a timer in the bedrooms).

Hazel Brow has ample plates, cutlery, glasses and mugs for 14 guests. We thoroughly enjoyed 'breakfast in style' in the large dining room - despite the AGA taking a bit of getting used to! The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of utensils, pots and pans. There is also a conventional electric oven which meant there were plenty of hob-rings to cook on. The 3 fridges spread throughout the house (in the boot room, pantry and kitchen) provided plenty of space to store all the Wensleydale we bought!

Nothing was too much trouble for Catherine. She was only an email or phone call away. When we requested an iron at short notice it was delivered within 24 hours. She had specially arranged for 70th birthday decorations to be put up for our arrival - it was a lovely touch and it was great to finally meet her when she popped along one morning.

The surrounding area of Swaledale was lovely - views from all of the bedrooms (particularly the rooms located at the front of the house) were delightful. A car is essential if you're visiting the area as it is quite remote - though there are plenty of walks to be had in the locality.

Upon recommendation we dined at The Punchbowl Inn (conveniently located a 5-10 minute walk away) - it was a great way to celebrate the birthday.

We would thoroughly recommend the house - it was an absolutely fabulous week. The only downside was the slow wifi connection (if your group are planning on hooking up approximately 28 devices!) & non-existent phone signal (though you don't come on holiday to check your emails!), but a landline connection was provided that allowed outbound calls.
