Very enjoyable visit on Bank Holiday Monday, with the gardens looking stunning and well-maintained. The house is fascinating, some similarity to Haddon Hall in its ancient, creaky, dark character. A few more 'in-room guide sheets' would be a useful addition, as the individual room volunteer guides can only talk to one person or group at a time. Overall, though, very good - but the Trust really shouldn't allow car parking in a direct line from the view down the centre of the garden - takes the edge off the historic feel.
