“A Mixed Review”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2014

Although we know the Premier Inns well, this was our first visit to this particular establishment. After a long drive from the North, it was good to see the Inn in the distance but a little hard to find the way in from a rather complicated roundabout it sits on! However, once in, we found lots of parking and a good friendly reception.

Our room was the usual for Premier Inn but noticed that we only had one chair for the two of us. The TV was rather small for the size of the room I thought.

As for the double bed, I had commented before about the wisdom of putting a quality mattress on a solid base. In my past, I worked for a premium bedding manufacturer who would have held their hands up in horror at the mere thought of the idea. I have a sprung divan (and quality mattress!) at home and I'm convinced that it's the better solution but we'll never agree. The mattress in the room I slept in was feeling a little tired.

The bathroom was fine although the light switch above the mirror had lost its bobble on the end of the chord.

We had dinner and breakfast in the adjoining restaurant and have a couple of points to mention. Firstly, being the holiday season, there were many families around and we noticed that young children were allowed to wander around the restaurant at will, in fact, some were running and bumping into staff and customers. Would it not be a good idea to have a children's area? We're parents ourselves but our children (now grown up) were never allowed to run about like this - I guess that's the modern approach.

My second point concerns my full breakfast which had cost me £8.75 and it was only luke warm, mainly because the plate was cold. My wife's breakfast was OK so I quickly got on with mine as there were no staff around to raise the issue with. I then made myself a couple of slices of toast but the machine was set wrongly and it came out only half done. If I'd passed it through again, it would have burnt it and as I don't waste food at all I put up with it. Not ideal.

Room Tip: Keep away from the traffic island and main road.

We were a little nervous booking this Premier Inn as some previous reviews indicated problems with customer service. We visited relatives in Kettering and stayed 5 nights on a room only basis, 2 adults and 2 children in a family room.
It was hard to fault the room which was comfortable and clean. The smallest bed was a little hard but our son aged 8 did not seem to notice. The bathroom was very clean; not the most modern.
The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly throughout our stay and this made such a difference. In truth there was little we needed, so there was no need to test them. They made 'animals' out of towels for the children as a surprise on two days, which made the stay extra special for them. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Stayed for 1 night In family room. It was a fairly warm day but the heat in our room was unbearable! Due to amount of noise from road couldn't even keep window open over night. Despite being a fan it was the worst night sleep ive ever had at a hotel! We got up early and left to get air!!

Stopped off here whilst waiting for a coach to take to Harwich. Staff really friendly and efficient. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Excellent beer garden and children's play area. If we are passing this way again would have no hesitation about stopping here.

My partner and I stayed at Premier Inn, Kettering for one night Friday 11th July. We arrived approx 17:45 but didn't check in until 7pm the member of staff working that night had to check in a party requiring ten rooms to say she was extremely rude would be an understatement!! After she insisted that none of the large party had booked a room (to find they had) we required a taxi to Rushdon hall, she told us we have 3 Rushdon halls and she had no one else attending a wedding that evening so we would need to double check, once getting in the taxi we found there was only one Rushdon hall, she was vile and rude to the children shouting at them to 'keep the noise down' when frankly they were pretty quiet. Our overall experience was ruined by one member of staff and I doubt this will be the only review regarding the customer service received on Friday 11th July!!

Stayed overnight whilst visiting family in the area. Accommodation and food good. The room was of a good size and the bed very clean and comfortable. Easy access from the main route and excellent car parking.
