Stopped for lunch after doing a track experience at silverstone, nice pub, food cheap and cheerful, nice staff, nothing posh but it does what it says on the tin and we were all very happy with our food and drink.

We attended this as a groupon deal.
I know and understand that groupon is used by businesses trying to drum up more or new clients and in the case of this place, I can see how they may be suffering from lack of return business.

Outside, from the road, the place looks great.
Once in the car park, you enter the pub area via a "tent" like area with a mismash of furniture and an outside pool table.

Upon entering the bar, you are greeted by an array of cheap fary lights (its not xmas yet guys!) and a large bar area.

It must have been bad taste pensioner behind the bar night due to the explosion of neon tightness with a splash of fishnet and cut off denim that was panicking and struggling to keep balance behind the bar.

We were pointed in the direction of our table ar the far end of the "restaurant" which was a few tables on a dark and dingy raised area.
(Dont rest your arms on the table unless you like to stick to it!)

The menus were not on the table so I had to go in search of them.

Once found, they were poorly printed photocopies, on a green background in a dark "restaurant" we looked through what was on offer.

The prices were low but there was a reason for this as we found out.

The starters were very obviously from iceland (and we're not thinking the country) with a little side salad.

Nearly an hour later, our main courses arrived and the starter plates removed.

I had to ask for condiments and were told "I'll have to find you some as everyone was eating".

Avoid the scampi unless you dont mind it undercooked and like to take a gamble!

The burger was ok, with soggy iceland onion rings and a bit of grated cheese (ultimate burger?!).

The chips looked promising but sadly, were tasteless :(

Half the meal was left on the table.

At no point were we asked about our meal and we left without so much as an acknowledgement from any of the staff.

Nice village pub serving value for money meals. We visited Silverstone for the weekend and had a good but inexpensive meal

Lovely village pub, very welcoming with nice food. Lots of screens showing sports. Large garden, would be lovely in summer time.

We saw this on Tripadvisor, liked the reviews and booked a table the night before a Silverstone Experience driving an Aston Martin Vantage around the circuit (brillianct, by the way!). We decided to have a drink there earlier as we arrived in the area in good time. The welcome was warm, friendly and inviting. The wine by the glass was very reasonably priced and the atmosphere was of a great British pub that has not tried to go gastro - just to serve its local community, including families, with good honest pub food.

We liked it so much we kept our evening booking and returned later to find the place buzzing with locals, families and visitors. Helen, the assistant manager, welcomed us and we ordered gammon and rump steak with the usual trimmings. The rare steak ( always a tricky one to get right) was perfect, the gammon great and the trimmings excellent. The staff checked on the food and the service and we reported that we were more than happy on both counts.

When we left we were personally thanked and we knew we will return.

A great pub, nothing pretentious but something special, all the same.

Thank Gordon E
