“5* home from home”
Reviewed 12 August 2010

We arrived in the beautiful town of Alnick and were greeted with a friendly, warm welcome from Tom and Audrey. We were given refreshments in the pretty, well kept garden with lots of information about local attractions and recommended eateries and a short tour of the B&B, which is immaculately presented throughout.
We booked the Green Room, which I have to say is more than worth the additional costs. The décor and presentation was spacious, luxurious and the large bay window over looking the garden made it light and airy.
Breakfast was of superb quality and the service second to none, nothing was too much trouble and they are marvellous hosts.
From Greycroft to the centre of Alnick is a pleasant stroll of no more than a few minutes and the castle/gardens are within walking distance.
My partner who is much more well travelled than I comments that this is the best B&B he has ever stayed in and far better than any hotel.
It is a pleasure to recommend Tom and Audrey at Greycroft and we look forward to staying with them again soon.

You will be hard pressed to find any negative reviews of Greycroft. Tom and Audrey have through of every tiny detail to make your stay memorable. We stayed in the Family Suite which was very roomy and well appointed.

Our primary purpose of visiting Alnwick was to visit the castle (due to the Harry Potter connection). At Tom's recommendation we decided to poke our heads into the Gardens. We were all completely blown away and in the end it was all our children could talk about.

Thanks Tom and Audrey for making us feel so welcome. You may just see some of our Scottish cousins pop by for a visit.

Overall excellent but perhaps a little on the pricey side at £125 per night. However you get what you pay for and I would heartily recommend this B/B. Family room of which there is only one was large, bright and very clean. En suite was obviously new and everything worked well. Breakfast was well cooked and fresh with decent portions and the surroundings of the breakfast room were first class. One gripe here was having to order your desired breakfast the previous evening and also state what time you would like service. In some ways this is good to allow the owners to give a good service to all the guests but it will not be to everyones taste. The owners made us very welcome and made tea and biscuits on arrival and were very friendly to my 14 year old son. They will also give a lot of up to date information regarding what to do in the area.
Overall excellent and I would wish the owners continued success in the business. They work very hard to ensure you have a good stay with them.

The service was superb, friendly and complete. Tom and Audrey were very friendly and welcoming, and provided advice and assistance willingly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The breakfasts were very good. A wide variety of options, with free choice, and prepared to a high standard using local ingredients.

The rooms were clean and well proportioned, all with on suite. The showers were powerful and easy to use. The location was a two minute walk from Alnwick high streets and numerous good restaurants, and within walking distance of most of Alnwick's tourist attractions.

There was ample off road parking provided outside the hotel.

Greycoft was a comfortable and wonderful hotel, which I intend to return to in the future and have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family.

I stayed for two nights in Greycroft and its one of the most relaxing and comfortable accomodation i had in my 8 weeks of travelling all over Europe, US and Canada. Since UK is my last stop in Europe, I decided to have a citybreak and visit Alnwick Castle and Edinburgh in Scotland. My stay in Alnwick was more than what i expect and it really rejuvenates me from my exhausting 5 weeks of travel in Europe. The room i had was very nice and my bathroom can be compared to a first class hotel minus the bath tub. What makes my stay memorable is the personal service from the hosts, Tom and Audrey. They were kind enough to arrange my taxi (GBP14 roundtrip) from the train station since i'll be travelling from London which arrived late at night . They were very accomodating and helpful since they can probably see i was so exhausted and started to get sick. Aside from the bottled water and fruits, the most unforgettable for me was when Audrey was kind enough to iron the top i washed and hung in the bathroom the night before. She probably saw it while cleaning my room. On my last day, Tom even woke up early to provide me with hot breakfast knowing i need to catch the early train going to Edinburgh. This is the kind of service which is priceless and worth recommending to everyone.

we stayed in this B & B for three nights whilst attending a wedding at Alnwick Gardens, the rooms are stylish & spotlessly clean, the breakfasts are fabulous & the location very convenient (3 minutes walk to town centre,Alnwick gardens & Castle) but the best thing about Greycroft is the owners Tom & Audrey, nothing is too much trouble for them, they are very friendly & full of northern charm, they are happy to suggest restuarants, places to visit & are a mine of information about the area.
I used to have a very low opinion of accommodation in the UK but Greycroft & Tom & Audrey have completely changed my views,
Stay here & you will not be disappointed.
We will be back.

On a short break to Northumberland we found Greycroft an ideal place to stay. Tom and Audrey not only provide good accomodation and breakfast but also take a pride in the area and helped us with suggestions for sightseeing, directions, eating -out etc.
We found that there was so much to see and do that we will have to return and would be happy to stay in same place.
