Stayed at Oransay House for two nights. Charles and Christine are excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The standard of cleanliness and attention to detail are very high. Breakfast are delicious using locally sourced ingredients and we need to stay a week to try everything on the breakfast menu. This is the best B & B we have ever stayed in and will be back as Alnwick and the surrounding area offer so many stunning places to visit. Thank you both.

We really enjoyed our stay, everything was perfect, breakfast was excellent, our room and the whole of the b&b was spotlessly clean and the hosts very helpful. The location is very central to all of the restaurants and attractions, off road parking was very handy too.

To be fair this guest house was recommended by a very good friend, having stayed there I can say he is still a very good friend! On arrival we were met by Charles, who can only be described as a perfect gentleman. We were assisted with our bags and shown to an absolutely super room (Room 2), where everything was explained in a very friendly manor; from the use of the tea and coffee facilities through to places to eat and discount vouchers for attractions.

The room was spotlessly clean and we'll provided with furnishings. The bathroom a specious delight with a large shower and good sized mirror. I don't think you could ask for more, but I'm sure if we needed anything it would have been no trouble at all.

As we were the only guests in the house on the first night, Charles invited us to take a look at all the rooms. Every one without exception was spotless, bright and tastefully furnished.

The breakfast is worth the visit on its own, the choice and quality cannot be faulted. Everything was well cooked and very well presented, with a wide choice of items; the sausage is very nice!

We met Christine at breakfast the following morning and can say they are both perfect hosts. They exhibit a genuine interest in their guests and make every effort to ensure your stay is perfect.

We followed up on a number of recommendations made by Charles and Christine on places to visit and eat. Charles also provided some vouchers for discounted entry into Alnwick Gardens, again we'll worth a visit.

Oronsay House is well situated for all the town's amenities and is well situated for exploring the area in general.

We can certainly recommend this guest house, though tempted to keep it quiet so we can go back and get the big room again! If you don't like this guest house, I'm afraid it's you, not the house!

Thank you for making our stay such a delight, Richard & Lorraine E

This was a super place to stay in Alnwick. Easy walking distance to all there is to see and the off-street parking was very convenient. The accommodation was spotless and the suite was a lovely large size with an enormous, comfy bed. The bathroom was very large and was the only area that could have been improved; the shower had quite low water pressure and a better quality unit would have been more in keeping with the overall experience, also the bathroom floor was lino, but they were the only changes I would have made to the accommodation. The house is on a busy road, so you do get some road-noise, but it didn't affect the quality of our sleep. I guess the rooms on the back would be the quietest. The other measure of a good B&B is the breakfast and this was first-class. Would definitely recommend if Alnwick is your destination.

Where shall we start , driving into alnwick the b & b is on your right 100 yards past the war memorial and straight into the car park
What a super place , met by Charles who was very welcoming and showed us to our room
The room 1 was more than comfortable with everything you could wish for
The following morning we had a lovely breakfast which was very varied and filling and we stayed for two nights
Next mornings breakfast craster kippers (the tomatoes worked) were superb.
We had a wonderful time here and would definitely stay again

Oronsay House is an excellent B&B with very welcoming hosts, Charles & Christine. This old house has been sympathetically restored and is exceedingly comfortable. The spotlessly clean rooms were comfortable and very well equipped and the breakfasts splendid. There was a wide choice of locally sourced, well cooked food and they even catered for my husband's gluten-free diet.
We ate at 2 of the recommended restaurants, both within walking distance of Oronsay House, and had excellent meals in both.
We would recommend this B&B to anyone wanting somewhere to stay in Alnwick. You certainly get good value for money.

Dear Barbara K,

Thank you for takiing the time to write a review about Oronsay House and of course for the kind words that you said in it. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay here in Alnwick and were able to sample a couple of the local restaurants. We are very lucky that there are so many good restaurants with walking distance and of course the John Bull with its range of 149 malt whiskies!

Hopefully you had a pleasant onward journey to Girvan and enjoyed the rest of your holiday.

Best regards,

Charles and Christine
