“Gothic-styled old hostelry”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2012

My wife and I found this to be the best pub in Alnwick during our recent short break (and believe me, we tried a few). Friendly and accommodating staff coupled with both great food and music made this Gothic-styled old hostelry an instant hit with us. Please feel free to enjoy a wine-fuelled tour around the other bars in town, but I guarantee that you'll end up one way or another back at the welcoming doors of The Black Swan.

“Gorgeous steak and ale pie”

Ate here last night - the homemade steak and ale pie was divine. Would recommend for good pub grub if in Alnwick.

“Nice staff, food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2012 via mobile

All the staff were very friendly and the service and food matched their attitude, which was professional and pleasant. We've eaten there a few times since the first visit and whilst the food has never matched the excellence of the first order, it's always been above average for pub fare. Good wine list and beer. The new owners - two local lads - have made a great effort in restoring the interior. Comfortable and easy going atmosphere. A great asset to the town!

“Decent pub meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2012

We came in looking for a decent pub meal and some good ales and were pretty happy with what we got. The menu is small but the meals we had were well made and not microwave jobs (although the sweets were underwhelming). There were a few ales on, which were all local and drinkable, and at £30 for two of us you can't complain. Nice pub atmosphere and good service.
